Thanks BlwnAway!! great explanation. I'm ordering the slim kit from ddm now in 5000k for my fogs and then I think ill just grab the matching 5000k for my headlamps.
Thanks again. I really appreciate it and made this project easier!
I did this all several years ago, also from DDM.
Prices for shipping have gone up recently, but if you buy in "bulk" (everything at once) it is not bad.
Here was my conversion on some PIAA 600 lights from 4 years ago.
Yes, you'll just have to figure out somwhere to mount the ballast.
But.... To head off the possible barrage of negative comments, many people Do Not like HID's in a non-projector housing (mostly oncoming traffic, they tend to glare pretty bad), that being said, they were not near as bad to oncoming traffic down in the OEM fog housings, since they're so much lower to the ground.
Not to bring up a dead thread, but I put ddm low beam kit on my 2005 mini cooper s. They turn on but the second I hit the gas they turn off. Anyone have this issue?
I just got i new aftermarket projector lights, do you know what would be the best place to place HID ballast ? my headlights are attached to the hood.
Thank you
Can't really help munch on that since the design of the aftermarket lights are different from OEM, best advice is anywhere you won't need to splice any wiring, and most importantly, anywhere the ballast can breathe, plus make sure it's secure, heat and vibration are your worse enemy's.
