Interior/Exterior White tail light owners: Any truth to this?
#1
I've heard the factory "install kit" (wiring harness) for the white tail lights not only lights up the upper part of the taillight assembly a la "brake light mod" but also increases the amps and light intensity, assuring that the clear lights burn red instead of "pinkish".
Is there any truth to this "amp increase" or does the wiring harness just activate the top (rear fog) bulb when braking?
The wiring harness seems pretty elaborate for it to serve the sole purpose of lighting up the top bulbs, a feat which can be accomplished with a pair of paper clips, so my guess is that the amp increase might be true.
Anyone know for sure?

If you take a stock MINI and put it side by side with a white tail light MINI at night and have both turn on their lights and press their brakes you will see that the stock MINI's rear lights are red and the white light MINI's lights are indeed pink. Add the kit and they will be closer to red. The kit retails for $125
I was not aware of the kit making the upper bulb turn on (I don't think it does that)- I did that myself with the tail light jumper mod.
