How to replace rear side marker bulb

I've seen several posts for the specific bulb to use for the rear side marker in my '05 MCS, but have not seen any How-To's in the fourms.

Is it as simple as prying off the lense to expose the bulb?

Thanks for any info

You cannot pry off the lens. The bulb plugs in from the back. If you stick your head underneath you can see it. Otherise you'll need to unhook the back of the fender well but I am not sure that his necessary. There is a small detent on the bulb holder that needs to be pressed to release it.

But the important thing is that it gets replaced from the back, not the front.

The "easy" way is to jack the car, remove the wheel, unscrew the back 1/3 or 1/2 of the liner, and have at it.

With that said, shortcutting the steps may or may not prove to be faster.

Looks like you are right - sometimes you have to wonder what these engineers are thinking - I do have to pull the tire off....
Well, I was looking for something to do tomorrow

pull rear arch away from body work (these are on clips),then unscrew the screw which holds the top part of the bumper arch then pull bumper arch away from bumper and voila rear marker light is then exposed ,twist bulb out of hoder and replace ,there is another screw under the bumper which holds the bottom of the bumper arch but i found i didnt need to unscrew that unless your removing the whole thing .
hope this helps and you understand my UK terminology

Bulbs I think are the same as the side repeaters but in clear I think or upgrade by putting LED replacements in , all I know is they are push in types .
Hope this helps
