So I woke up today and wanted to paint the silver pieces white. I was going to do the steering wheel and decided not to at the last second. Maybe another day. Here is my shots through the whole thing. Just waiting to dry then reinstalling. 4 coats of white and 3 coats of clear.
Paint no clear
All finished from Here on down
Tell me what ya think? =]

Not to be a buzz kill, but I think it was a very bad idea.
From experience I'll never paint interior car pieces again. Especially white. Not only was it hard to keep clean, but I quickly realized how dumb it looked after having it in the car for awhile. Now you didn't even paint 1/4th of what I painted in one of my cars years ago, but just take it from me ... don't do anymore.
6speedwtneed... its your car. Do what you like. Who cares what anyone else says. I am impressed that you could take all those pieces off and put them back on. Not my cup of tea but its your car not mine. Enjoy the new look.
6speedwtneed: Great job, looks very cool and gives such contrast to all the black panels while tying in with your white sport stripes on the exterior. Perhaps you could add some white matching vinyl to wrap the door pulls. Also, can you add a photo to show what you did with the steering wheel hub. Will you share the paint you used, was it the new Krylon for plastic? Thumbs up from this NAM member.
Thanks for the replies. I like it and plan on keeping this car for a few more years. And the paint was automotive paint from the local PPG store. No rattle can here. It'll hold up forever. And I didn't do anything with the steering wheel. Took it all apart and gave up til I think of a good way to tape off the steering wheel controls since I don't wanna white out my buttons. And keeping it clean won't be hard?.. It's just clear coat to wipe off...
That looks gorgeous!! If I could do that in pepper white... :P It looks extremely time consuming though... how many hours total did it take you? Fabulous job though!!
Ahh thank you guys. I love it and get so many compliments on it. And it took me about 4-5 hours if you don't include time I waited for it to dry to reinstall. If anyone lived near me I would do it for them... But since no one does lmao....
Looks good. What about the pieces on the dash, the grey ones? You guna do those too? You should. The only thing thats killing it to me is the blue/grey on the door armrests. Otherwise nice pro job on the peices.
You've got *****. I would have been scared of dust and the elements getting stuck. And of course heat cracking. Any reason you didn't take it to a body shop besides pricing?

Y'all are making this seem harder than it really is. Use Krylon to paint it. Sand it down, primer it, and paint it a few coats. Then clear coat it. It won't crack, peel, stick, or anything. If you use white though over time you will realize that was a bad idea. I did my whole interior once a few cars back. Will never do that again. I recommend against not doing it because later on down the road you won't want it.
Old pictures of my 1gn neon in the junkyard. I wrecked it in a storm. Anyways the interior is what we are talking about ...
I would say that you went a little too far with it. That's definitely too much white.
It was a white car with taupe looking grey for the interior. The black interior of the mini goes well with almost any color, which is nice. It would look dumb if I painted it all blue, and if i would of just painted a few pieces and left it.
Regardless the point is I wouldn't paint interior pieces ever again despite how much or how little is done. It gets old after a while and sooner or later you'll be fighting harder to keep it clean than you normally would with the stock interior. I also think you get to the point where you out grow that stuff, but maybe that's just me. However, it is really easy to paint interior pieces. Just use Krylon Fusion.
