Interior/Exterior Plati-Dip
#3
I felt the same way with my first MINI. I saw it after a year of being sold. The plasti-dipped items looked awful. They changed to a different shade of black, almost grey. They were incredibly hardened and felt terrible to the touch. I asked the new owner why he hadn't peeled off and done again. He mentioned that once its on there for a while it is incredibly hard to peel off when hardened. In fact I did the door handles on that car. He said the passenger side was starting to peel so he was going to pull it off. He said it took so long to do it that he decided he didn't want to bother with the driver door.
After seeing it in that condition I decided plasti-dip will no longer touch my car. It will either be painted or vinyl wrapped. Sure it's more expensive than a spray can. Sure you can peel off before it gets too hard and redo it but what a pain. I've got better things to do than paint my headlight rings, scuttles, gas cap, and more two or three times a year.
My 2 cents.

Dear duvinclunk,
Thanks for taking something meant to be lighthearted and fun, and making it, well, not lighthearted and fun.
Your friend (not really),
Fogle
Ps, in your honor, I will now literally plasti-dip my entire car.
