This piece is offered pre-cut from InvincaShield. $16, part #12 . That particular surface is smooth and flat, so installation yourself should not be too much of a problem.
Also, when I got my clear bra done, I asked the company to cut me a pattern for the rearward-facing portion of the bumper as well. Won't stop nicks, but helps for those instances when someone nudges into you when parallel parking. The piece was designed for free - other companies wanted to charge extra for the design, or send in my bumper for measurements AND charge me extra. Anyways, the piece I requested is now listed on their site for anyone else to purchase (part #13 ). So, if you have any other custom ideas, talk to them and they'll work it out with you.

PS: Mini offers a blk plastic piece for the loading/unloading bumper surface too, it is in the accessories catalog page 33, listed as $40 srp.

Do you think that #13 will cover the PDC?

Received the MINI black strip as a birthday gift. It is pretty cool - same texture as the wheel arches with the word MINI on it. The box says there are installation instructions available from the "EPC-CD" or the Aftersales Assistance Portal. Does anyone know how to access these and print them out? Thanks

It took 3 minutes people.
You should have gotten a plastic squeegee tool and a bag of green soap with you part.
All the instructions said was to make sure the surface was free of any kind of dirt, wax, or polish.....then mix the green soap with some water and put it in a spray bottle. I used about a cup or so of water.
Then you spray the bumper down....peel off the backing for the bumper protector, and spray the sticky side of it and apply to the bumper. Then you smooth it out with your hands and use the squeegee tool to move any extra water out from underneath the strip....
I will have to get pics tomorrow....Looks AWESOME...and yes it is thin, but once it is installed it is great!

Images from my install.
Notice that the strip does not exactly fit the stock bumper on my '04 CMS, nor did it fit the aero kit bumper from an '05.
Initially I thought it would look worse than it did because it was so thin...but after 2.5 minutes and taking a step back, I was super happy with the way it came out.
Install could *not* have been easier. All you need is a spray bottle and one cup of water!
And a nice sunset in Brooklyn.
