Walked down to my car today, and realized that my neighborhood birds turned my sunroof into their personal outhouse.

They love hanging out on the crossbars, and dumping out their wet ones right on my sunroof. At least it's the sunroof, not actual roof paneling!

Get one of those Owl decoys, and mount it on the roof rack. Pigeons wouldn't dare use the "facilities" then.

Great post

You should make a little sign for your dashboard:

'IMPORTANT - CLOSE SUN ROOF WHEN PARKED'

I was thinking about that yesterday, and imagined how horrified I'd be to come back to my car and find bird poop all over my seats and headrest!!

The owl might create a lot of wind drag, plus IMHO a little kitschy. You might consider the wire style spikes or just a loudspeaker with recordings of owls, that would be really cool.

Now I know why the MINI factory roof rack has those chunky fat cross-bars. Most bird feet are too large to comfortably perch on them. . . .

Thanks for the "head's up" about the open sunroof though!

Just get some thin sheet metal, bend them into trays and pop rivet them to the bottom of the crossbars to catch the bird droppings so they don't hit your roof. Paint them black it they will look really cool. Angle them down in the front to create more downforce on your MINI.

Warning. Following above instructions may result in interference with sunroof operation. Use above suggestion at your own risk.
