Would it have to be an entirely new ****, or is there an adaptor?

Alta does have their adaptor available now.
I'm assuming that my shift **** will fit it properly; but I've ordered one, just to make sure.

The only other option is to have a threaded **** made up, though that's not a problem; I've made several.

I got myself a #2 pool ball (blue) to match my MINI. I thought of getting #10 so that it could be blue with a white top, but figred having the number at the top looked better, so went with #2.

Thanks Doug, for proving to be a pleasure to deal with.

Who here enjoys getting a **** w/o a pattern on it to confuse others who try to drive your car?

Two Questions

MiniGolf love the billiard ball shift **** I have been thinking about geting one myself but I am a bit concerned about one detail that perhaps you could help me out with.

The billiard ball diameter is 2-3/16" making it 1/16" of an inch larger than the standard Mini shift ****. One of the things I don't like about the standard Mini **** is the diameter feels a bit large.

After you installed your billiard ball did the increase in diameter bother you, was it that noticable? Do you even care about the diameter being larger?

Also I have a question for everyone else concerning the stick shift. If its so easy to shorten the stock shift by just cutting it down why bother spending all that money and time purchasing an aftermarket short shifter?
Is there any benefit in buying a whole new unit that is shorter over just wacking off around 2" to the stock shaft?

Enquiring minds would like to know.

Personally, the size doesn't faze me too much, the larger size is noticeable though, just. But with a regular size pool ball the **** now sits a fraction higher than the OEM ****. That's not something I was expecting, I'm still getting used to it so I'll see how I go. Could just be a good excuse to get a short shift kit.

Cheers Liam

I got one of the MOTD Whalen ***** that doesn't have a pattern. If my hubby is driving my car, I am always having to remind him to shift into 6th as he drives a 5 speed. Boys, sometimes you gotta remind them of everything. Teehee

MiniGolf:

Thanks for the feedback I had not thought about the height factor. Perhaps I should wait to cut down the shaft after the billiard ball arrives so I get the height just right. Thanks

No worries. After a bit more time in the car the height is worrying me a bit. It's amazing as the extra height couldn't be more than half an inch I don't reckon, but it's amazing what you get used to really. I think I'll get used to it, but I've gone from not really thinking, or worrying about wanting a short shift kit, to thinking I'll start researching it.

The extra height is barely noticable. Now the sex appeal the Whalen **** has... everyone notices that

My custom Whalen Shift **** showed up today. I don't have a decent digital camera right now so unfortunately no pics. When I get one I'll post some nice pics of it though. For the time being I can post an image of what it looks like from the CNC machine's point of view.

Just got my Whalen ****. What a pleasure Doug is to work with, and the **** came out better than I ever could have imagined. Simple, but well done, it's brushed on top with a polished bottom. The engraving is simply the John Cooper signature and the gear positions.

Thanks Doug!

bead-blasted/brushed combination

Whalen shift **** for my 2006 Pepper White MCC.

The overall finish is bead-blasted, with a brushed ring portion for highlight. Doug said he has done only a few ***** that combined bead-blasted and brushed finishes, I think because most people aren't aware it is an available option. Bead-blasted finish is ideal for those of us who don't want a shiny ****, and brushing adds an understated accent. I debated between brushing the shift pattern circle area vs a brushed outer ring. I went with the ring, but a brushed circle should also look great. Thanks Doug for your fine work!

I painted the shift pattern using the technique suggested by jimz68 (thanks Jim): paint the shift pattern with an automotive touchup pen, then lightly wipe with acetone.

Almost got that same design. Finally (after much deliberation) I decided to get a plain brushed ****. No design.

But Doug said that I can always have a design added later .....
