DIY: Off-center plate holder
I'm gonna start with a warning, I'm HORRIBLE at tutorials so bare with me and feel free to ask questions.
Also, THIS IS NOT A DIRECT FIT to the factory tow hook, you will end up stripping a part of your tow hook hole.
Materials
1 - 8" 12 gauge heavy duty strap.
1 - 5/8-11 3in. Hex Bolt
2 - 5/8 Hex Nut
These are materials I purchased from home depot, the rest I had lying in my garage.
Some materials you might need are some screws/nuts to mount the plate to the base. You'll need a base, I used an old license plate I had lying around and drilled onto it.
1) Drill the center of the aluminum strip. Once it fits into the bolt, mark 1.5inch marks on the strip. Once marked, test fit it into the tow hole so you can see how you want your plate positioned.
2) Bend aluminum strips on the 1.5inch marks so that if laid flat, the bolt head would be flat as the tips of the strip (as shown in the picture).
3) Next figure out what you are going to use as a base. I used an old license plate I had lying around. Drill onto your base in any way you want, as long as it is what you prefer. I chose to drill on the center.
4) After you have your base done then use some bolts to have your plate mounted. Again, I had some lying around so if you need screws/bolts just take a trip to home depot.
5) Test fit again, you'll have to adjust and adjust until you get the desired result.
This is how mine came out.
