Has anyone installed the steering wheel from R56 to R53?

I want to install a steering wheel from R56 to my R53. Now there is a two spokes steering whee with multifunction. I have an anatomy sporty R56 steering wheel with multifunction and brand new AIRBAG also from R56 three spokes steering wheel. Can they dock? Somebody already did that?

They do swap 1st gen 2-3 steering wheel, but they use 3 spokes wheel from restyling 1st 3 spoke steering wheel. I want swap 1st gen 2 spokes steering wheel to 3 spokes R56 steering wheel.

I understood that. As I've said, I've yet to see 1 who has tried. You can check by removing your 2spoke & check if airbag, MFSW, spline & indicator auto-cancel all fit.
Remember to disconnect your battery/unplug SRS fuse. It'll throw the SRS light once fuse is out, but won't store any codes to clear. Should R56 airbag have same resistance as your 2 spoke, light should turn off when fuse is back in. Hope you sort it out.

I've a friend, he is an electrician in BMW dealership station. He said that the R53 and R56 SRS Airbag resistance is the same. Hope they are mechanically compatible.

1st and 2nd gen steering wheels are mechanically incompatible. People have tried to swap JCW steering wheels between generations and not been successful.

Then the SRS is 1 item less to worry about. Removing the 2-spoke is easy. To Torx screws hold the Steering airbag. Horn is the 4pin plug w/ 2wires- brown & white. The MFS plug is to the left of it. Open & check if you're really bent.

Like what rkw said, that must be the reason why we haven't come across any 1st-2nd gen wheel swaps.
