Opinions on m7 scoop and cowl scoop?

Retry torn right now whether I should add the vortex scoop to my r53. Also, contemplating the cowl scoops. Probably wouldn't do both because I think that would be too much. Any opinions? Really want to make the car more unique.

go for the scoop, and best of luck finding the cowl scoops; those are a rare item!

M7 doesnt have any that i know of, but there may still be a couple of people who make certain styles. The oracari are the "best looking" if you ask me, and among the rarest (i was able to snag a pair amazingly). i love the look myself.

theres plenty plenty to do to the mini to make it "custom", so be creative!

like asto said, the cowl scoops are very hard to find, very cool looking

hood scoop is functional and good looking

not sure the cowl scoops help anything =)

FYI- M7 scoop is crap.
Full of air bubbles that escaped when the dealer's body shop baked the paint to cure. One of the bolts pulled out of the fiberglass because they don't use backing plates (just the head of he bolt holds it in the fiberglass).

I like mine just fine. IMO a quality part. Mine was painted at a body shop and I installed it without a hitch. YMMV
And yes, I know, it needs a bath.

I love my oracari's! I have been looking for a bigger scoop also but have not found the right.... affordable one yet. My opinion, go for both.

Those look like the ones I have on mine. found them used here in the classifieds. They fit nice and look good but not quite as good as the oracari's.

those are made by a guy in california i think. he injection molds them himself? i remember emailing with him some time ago. that is honestly the only scoops you will find unless someone gives up their oracaris here. nobody has bothered to make any new ones that i am aware of.

sounds like i need to start a company that makes all these parts at at an affordable rate! i would love the M7 canards, but refuse to pay the outrageous fee of over $200... and no idea why only offered in CF, other than to jack up the price.

Yes m7 prices are a bit high... If the vortex scoop was about $50 cheaper I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.

i remember reading a study somewhere that, for the cowl scoop to be effective, it would have to be mounted backwards. i forget the specifics. its worth a read though if you can find it.

id like to buy one for the drivers side only. its unfortunate theyre only sold in pairs. the passenger side would only be cosmetic and just create more drag.

i also really want an aftermarket scoop, but as stated, m7 is really the only ones out there, and theyre way over priced. id like something really agressive like a mini version of the wrx scoops on subarus.

maybe if the passenger and driver side cowls are interchangeable, somebody who also only wants one could go halves on a pair with me?

I had the same thought and when I got mine I did just that. I didn't care for the look though. Just didn't look right having the one scoop. Unfortunately they aren't interchangeable either.

just checked it out. the price is much better, however i think to bebworth it for me, it would need to not have the grille inside. also if it were just straight across with no notch, thatd be nice. im guna look into it more.

thanks for the info though.

If I had seen the notch scoop sooner I would have probably gone with that. I like the way the screen matches the Mini's grill. I bought my M7 scoop with Mini Fini grill from a member in the classifieds for $100 so I'm not complaining.

Nah, I think I'll stick with this one. Appreciate the thought though. I ended up with the more subtle non-vortex scoop on mine. I sold my unpainted Vortex to another member.

I agree. I really like the M7 extreme scoop....nice and big, looks more like a WRX scoop. I wish more people sold them.....I can't see spending what M7 wants for one. BBR also sells a "venturi scoop" that goes on top of the standard mini scoop...kind of makes it look like the M7 scoop. The problem is, most of that stuff is all made and sold overseas...it all but impossible finding them here in the US.
