buy a Broadway mirror (made in japan) -- they easily clip on to the stock mirror. they come in different lengths and flat/curved and tinted/no tint. i recommend the flat mirror. once you use the broadway mirror, you'll never go back to the conventional ones!!

here's a link to one: (10 bucks is a super cheap price)

I thought the rearview mirror was small at first too. But if you look, you'll see it shows the entire rear window. I held a larger mirror up to check fitment and saw that it would only show me more of the interior of the MINI and not the road. I think it's something you just have to get used to.

New mirrors

When I ordered my 2005, the specs said that the rear view mirror was bigger, I suppose because of complaints. I would bet that the mounting system is the same, so you could probably order a 2005 mirror and solve the problem.

I got one of those japanese panoramic mirrors in new condition (no box)
if you want it ($30shipped...paid over $40 which was for a friend, but he
already had one.). It mounts perfectly onto the MINI mirror's.
Please PM, and I'll send you a pict.

Its tinted and curved for a wide look.

IMO the OEM mirror is too large. It blocks too much of my vision when driving in the twisties! A sports car should have a small oval mirror.

I'd have to agree.

If all of your mirrors are properly adjusted for your individual seating position, you will have zero blind spots.

First, adjust your seat to your desired positon

Second, adjust the rear view mirror so that you can see the entire rear window

Third, have a friend stand behind your MINI and move slowly until he/she begins to move out of sight of the rear view mirror. When you friend is almost out of view, adjust the side mirror so that you can see him. Do the same for the other side mirror.

Lastly, send me 1/10 of the money you saved for not having to order and install an oversized mirror that still will not eliminate blind spots if you do not have your side mirrors adjusted properly.

I also agree with acetonic and jds. I thought it was too small, but realized that I was seeing through the entire rear window. I got used to it very quickly.

I have the broadway wider mirror over my stock mirror.
The flat model works better than the curved due to the flat stock mirror.
Mine was 280mm wide but they come in many widths.
Colors of the mirror range from black to silver to mid blue.
I don't mind that the mirror is a bit wider than stock.
They clip on easy enough.

2005 cars will be able to play MP3 cds - 2004s cannot.

You should call the dealer, find out why they said that to you, and complain. The mirror, you'll be fine. Or try one of the suggestions above.

Let us know how you make out.

Flat Broadway mirror here with a subtle blue tint that helps cut down on headlight glare. Even though you can see the entire rear window with the stock mirror, you can position the Broadway to see the rear window AND see out some of the left or right rear quarter. They are $10 on ebay last time I looked.

Tried the curved Boardway and although you get to see out the rear quarters, everything is too tiny to judge distances well.
