Yucca's new stripes and UJ roof

Yes, I know, its just another self-serving post to show off my MINI's new look, but I can't help myself!

New Shelby Stripes and Sunroof UJ from CooperFlags!

I had the stripes installed at a slight angle to create a bit of forced perspective and a slightly different look from the normal parallel design (Stripes are closer together at the windshield than at the grille).

Lookin' good. Yucca, it's hard to tell from your photo, but would you say that the UJ flag looks pretty solid from the outside, or does it have a noticeable perferated-look to it?

interesting idea. Looks like you used the stripes reverse from "normal", and then angled them inwards. Emphasizes more schnozz, and a longer bonnet, as well as more broad 'shoulders'. I think it works, though I think it would be nailed on the head if the head of the stripes were parallel to the grill line, and not askew a bit. Perhaps a call to Matt at Cooperflags, to refine your good idea

Thumbs up Yucca!

I like it...did you have it flat-bedded to the installer?

...the tow ring...

Naw, Craig....Yucca uses the front and rear tow rings to tie down the kayak on his roof rack!

Yucca: baby, it looks sweet! They did a great job installing the graphics! Who did the install?

Thanks for the kind comments from everyone! I sure had fun figuring out something a little different to do with these stripes.

Ryephile, thanks especially for the constructive criticism. I think we are in complete agreement that it is a good idea that could be perfected with a little tweaking in the future. Fortunately I picked these stripes up very cheap off of ebay so did not have any reservations about trying something to see what it might look like.

One thing I did was remove the bonnet scoop before installation because the stripes I have were made for the Cooper (not the S) and did not have cut-outs for the bonnet scoop. This allowed me to not only adjust the angle of installation, but also allowed me to install the stripes with the vinyl disappearing beneath the edges of the scoop. That nice detail looks fantastic and I'd suggest that anyone with an S take the extra time to remove the scoop and order stripes without the standard cut-outs!

Installation was done by Sticky Business in Atlanta. They do incredible work wrapping graphics on huge fleet trucks as well as an occasional tiny MINI. The sunroof flag is perfectly installed and the stripes are exactly even and perfect mirror images of each other. They were a little pricey for the install, but the extra time taken and skill/art was worth it, especially after having a sunroof flag installation botched locally.

Looks good Yucca. Glad to hear you got the permanent one this time. Now I won’t have to dodge all that traffic picking then up as they blow off the MINI.

Looking good Yucca! Are you going to bring your kayak next year to the Dragon? If so I just might bring mine!

Now, now, Rye! Yucca's girlfriend doesn't have her MINI....yet! But she does want one.

I'm afraid that is my girlfriend's taurus. She pulled into the driveway right as I was taking just the right shot of the new graphics!

I assured her that nobody would care that her Taurus was nosing into the frame, but I guess I was wrong!

She is going to get a MINI, but is responsibly choosing to run her Taurus into the ground first. I have offered to use my mechanical skills to help ensure that it dies a slow painful death over the next couple months, but she says "NO!"

Oh my. Ya know if you take the camera to less than a wide angle your stripes will not look like someone put them on crooked.

They look great. You did a great job.

Yes, the wide angle really exaggerates the "crookedness", but I had to get everything including the bumper of my girlfriend's Taurus in the picture

Looks great! One of these days I'll muster the guts and the motivation to try out some stripes.

gravedgr, I spoke with Tramel Gilmore on the phone and he handled me when I was there. Someone else did the install. Joel, the owner was very nice and talked with me for quite some time about BMW motorcycles, the Dragon, and other stuff.

The guys at Sticky Business in ATL are great - we have used their services on several occasions and they have always come through. They did the install on the DEKRA mini's that are in our Photo Gallery.

I like the twist on the Shelby-Style stripes - things like this always keep things interesting around the office.
