I meant to post these 2 weeks ago. So, here it is the '05 console in my '03 MCS. Better late then never. I guess.

Here you go. The last one is in a MINI-Fini cup holder. I'm trying it out there to see how I like it. I hope this helps.

I installed the 2005 center consol tray yesterday. There aren't any #40 torx in the side tubes as indicated in the motoringfile instructions, they were all the smaller #20. Try as I might, I never did get the tubes out. The dash section under the speedometer was not moving and I didn't want to crack it. Just mustled in the tray by lifting the lower tube covers.

I appreciate it. I can see now it doesn't sit flush in the cup holder and that's what I was affraid of, I guess I'll just hide it back in the eur parcel shelf. unless I build the mount I want to have, which is a distinct possiblity now that emachineshop.com is online.

I did this DIY job this weekend. I wanted the outlet for my cell phone. So here is my scoop on this project:

1. What looks like a place on the back side of the euro parcel shelf (The side that would be closest to the center console) where you would have the 12v outlet installed) isn't the right place. Lessoned learned here, using that location the 12v outlet is about half an inch to low if you have the rubber tray insert. I should of put the rubber insert in first and then figured out where to drill the hole.

2. I could never get the two clips on the bottom to clip, I gave up.

3. The blue clip on the right side at the top where you are suppose to screw in didn't work, I ended up drilling a new hole to the rigth and up above the predrilled hole. That did the trick.

The outlet was the easy part of the whole install, fighting with those snap clips and the screw was the hardest part!

I will have to trim the rubber mat where the outlet is so no big deal.

Wow, you sure dug this thread up from the deep!

Glad it was of some help. A trick to get those clips in is to use some needlenose pliers and just squeeze the clip over the lip. You'll be hearing a refreshing 'snap!' in no time! (Just don't squeeze too hard, or that 'snap' will turn into a 'crack'! )

And for getting the holes lined up - on my '04, it was a snap. On my '06, it was a pain in the A$$!!! But strangely enough, on another '06, the shelf went in without a hitch. But as long as you got it in!
