shorten shifter like mazda rx=8
hey guys, i have my 05 mcs on order, i love the shifters in the madza rx8, and even the nissan 350Z, they're really low, and short, not just short throws, but short in height, and look like little stubs, but sweet as hell because you just shift with the flicks of your wrist. anything like this out there that will not only shorten the throws, but drop the height and make it look more compact?

do a search. i've posted a couple of times about just cutting down the shaft a little over 3." one of the posts includes the throw/freeplay lengths i have now. it works great and i like the position better.

here's the one with the throw/freeplay data. that 1.2" throw is getting close to a miata throw; much better feel than stock.

Unlimited SS choices
You don't have to keep your stock configured Whalen. You can order a Whalen **** for any short shifter including Alta, so don't limit your SS choices.
I had Doug make another one specifically for my Alta SS and then sold my original Whalen shifter to one of the members here on NAM.
Call or e-mail Doug if that's the way you want to go.

I recently bought a G35coupe 6MT and starting to get use to that
stubby shifter. I personally prefer the longer levers because the
distance from the steering wheel to the **** is much closer.
I might actually get a taller **** to compensate this if it continues
to bother me.

You mean the lever? Yes, some people do that to simulate a shortshifter-feel
sometimes.
There are some aftermarket ***** that are height adjustable...I know
RAZO makes them, but not sure if they have non-threaded ones.
