What can I do with the missing toggle switch in the 05

Well I never would have ordered an 04 this way but all the 05s come missing an option for a complete set of toggleswitches. What can I put in this location?

Mmmm, lemme see, just off the top of my head you could put a toggle switch there, or a round push button for the starter, a small purple LED that you could refuse to tell anybody the function of, a tiny round WTF Goes Here? sticker, your gum, the jack for your auxiliary input to your stereo, a small 12v power outlet, a microphone jack connected to nothing, a Do Not Touch sticker, a Hershey's Kiss, or a booger.

Feel free to select from any, all, or none of those.

What option is missing? I ordered a 2005 MCS and got the rear fogs specifically to fill the switch bank.

You better ask your dealer. I also ordered my '05 with rear fog and was informed that those are no longer an option as the state of california doesn't like them so MINI just decided to leave them off everybodys car.

Yes, but the dealer can install the rear fog and have it ready for delivery. This and DSC will give you a complete set of toggles.

I remember being disappointed that I didn't have a full bank of toggles when I got my '02 MCS. Now it seems so silly... this car looks and drives Grrrrrreat!

You should be able to have the rear fog kit installed in most states. Probably $100-$150.

Or you could just have the full 6 switch toggle panel installed (which is what GBMINI had for 6 months, till we won the petition to have rear fogs). Should be $75 and you can install it yourself.

Or you could get a single toggle from someone who has an old panel stripped down, and install it into the empty position. Hopefully $5-$10 and some careful drilling

The 05 fog light kit has not been released yet, but I'm assured it is coming.
It is supposed to be a dealer install because of finicky CA and OR.

I would expect it to be available in Sept, but that's just a guess. The 05 Sirius kit is not out yet either. So my advice is hang in there, and the full bank of toggles will be available shortly. We've raised too much fuss about rear fog lights over the last 2 years for MINIUSA to blow it off now!

Incidently, my 05 MCS is here, but not delivered yet as they are doing the aero kit + driving lights. I have an 03 Cooper with the rear fogs (and the brake light mod) that I'm trading in.

Meanwhile I recommend the "DO NOT TOUCH!" sticker, very entertaining

i know that the rear fog will not be available in Ca because the position is too low to make the legal height requirement.

If I am not mistaken the panel the switches are on is a full circuitboard, so that makes it hard to make use of it.

I have thought of a way to use them for some driving lights.

If you disconnect the wire going to the rear fogs and do the brake light mod, then use that lead in the place of the high beam lead hookup for the usual rally lights install, then you will be able to use that switch to turn on the rally lights, provided that you bought a set with a 2 position switch and leave it on all of the time.

The OEM rally light kit will not work for this but the Piaa will.

My MA informs me that the rear fog kit should be available at about the time my car is delivered (mid to late Sept). If not, they will install it when the kit comes in. Just say YES to a full bank.
