Jazmini you bring up some really good points... I am new to the whole tire thing...

I normally drive a Z 71 with large tires ... So Ithought if I did a 205 with 60 or 65 series I would have more rubber .. ie. better ride....
you have pointed out that may not be true....

As you said we will have to play around with them.... I don't like the rim on the ground look...

You also mentions a 225/15 ????? will that fit 15" hollies... I don't think it will without crowning the tire... ??? I thought I read 215 is the very larges you can mount....

I am not sure what I will do... I should get the kit this week and figured I would put one side on and go to the tire store... I just want to fill it up the best I can... without adding a ton of weight....

As far a fitting them .. I think it is going to be easy?? At least I hope so... half the people in the area i live have no idea what I am driving... so I would have to go to Dallas and find someone....

I pray it is not that difficult... I thought i say a HOW TO forum in NAM, but I thing I was mistaken...

I've been out of town but back now -- we've exchanged PMs and have discussed some of this. When I said 225/15, I meant a 225 mm width tire in a 15 inch diameter. In your PMs you mentioned you were thinking of a 225 in a 16 or possibly 15, with a 16 by 7 inch wheel you may choose that weighed 17 lbs, and possibly 50 series. The 50 series is a good match for the 205, so it should be even better with a wider tire, such as 225. You are right that the best ride will be with a taller profile tire, such as 65 series or even 60 series. But the best look and handling will be with the smaller profile, and I would get a 50 series or a 55 series, but a 60 series may work without rubbing too. With the 225 width you will need to consider rubbing issues, so you may want to be safe and get 50 or 55 series (or even 45 series). Especially if you lower the car. I don't think anyone has posted on using any fender flares, so we don't have much info on all this. They should allow use of a wider tire, and a 225 sounds great. The 36 offset you mentioned in your PM is aggressive and should look great. Hope it all works out great for you. Let us know how it goes.

The reason I'm thinking of a 55 series tire is I don't want to lower the car to the point that it won't go through the automatic car wash near me. That's important around here with the road salt they use (my condo complex scatters it around here constantly due to our hills) for the occassional snow. If not for that I would prefer the 50 series. The great thing about tires is you can change them if you don't like them (albeit with a cost). Good luck!

 

Does anyone know what color the CTD fenders come in unpainted? Are they black like the stock fenders?

Also, does anyone know of any other companies that offer bolt-on fenders similar to the CTD ones? I know that PILO and Moss Mini stopped offering them.

 

You've named the ones I'm familiar with, so don't know of any others. Maybe someone else has heard of more. Mine are a grey color, so don't match the black, but I'm wondering if that may be preferable to the black to be different. Then paint the black parts the same grey color. Just a thought. I still haven't put mine on yet as I'm not ready yet for that expense with new tires and wheels, but I'm in no hurry. :smile:

I'd like to find something that would allow me to lower the car a little and still be able to use my 215/45/17 tires. I had M7 springs on my old MC and I couldn't look at a bump with out scraping the tires across the outer part of the stock wheel arch flares. I'm scared to lower my MCS

 

Hmmmm, what wheels you using? What tires?

I run 215/45/17s on the street and Im very low. The trick it to get at least lower rear control arms. Just add like .5 negative camber and you should be fine. It's a lot cheeper then body work.

 

17x7 ASA AR1s with Yoko ES100 215/45/17s. I was scraping the outer edge on top of the tire on the front and back.

 

Yea, I used to do that all the time until I added camber plates and control arms. I trimmed the crap out's my rear plastic wheel well and even ground down some metal, Fronts would clip the lip of the flairs on hard corrners. Still rubbed.

Now I never touch anymore and ride lower then I ever have.
