Sylvania Silver Stars
I replaced mine with Sylvania "silver star" -I run my daytime driving lights and since they run at something like 50% they had a very yellow apparence. Can't say as the Silver Stars helped much for the daytime driving light issue, but as high beams they do have a whiter read, much closer to the Xenon's in my opinion. Pep Boys - $20.

The best H7 bulbs are the Euro Spec Phillips and Osram bulbs. Most of the "blue" bulbs you buy in the Pep Boys, Kragens, etc, are bulbs that have a coating to filter out the yellow wavelengths of light. The resulting light is very bluish white looking, but the coating actually decreases light output and increases glare to oncoming drivers. I bought Phillips Vision Plus bulbs from www.autolamps-online.com. They're English but the prices including shipping are very competitive. Also check out www.powerbulbs.co.uk. Both websites have much informative information on automotive lighting.

I put the 65 W's in ....they are brighter, maybe, but very little....I put one on the right high beam and one on the right low beam just to compare with the stock bulbs...yeah, the 65W is brighter but not by much...the stock h7's I think are pretty good....but I kept the 65's anyway and left them in my high beams and am happy with them

Sylvania's website (which goes up to '04) claims that on a Cooper S (without HID lights), an H7 is used for low-beams but an H9 for high-beams. But what I'm reading online seems to contradict this, and says that the H7 is used for both. I just (this evening) bought 2 H7's at Pep Boys for my '05 Cooper S, but didn't buy a second pair for the high-beams because the guide said they wouldn't fit. Is Sylvania's application guide wrong?

I run the sylvania Silverstars in my high and low beams and they make one heck of a difference. Yeah there probaly 55w but with that in mind I know I won't be pushing my car's electrical system with bulbs in the 70wat range.
So with the silverstars up front and the brake light mod I am better seen in a world of SUVs and pickup trucks. haha
