iPod adaptor or Aux cable?

From the posts it seems that an Ipod can be used with the AUX cable so why would one want to buy the more expensive IPod adaptor? (I don't have an IPod)

I don't have an ipod either, but I believe it's so that you can control the ipod using the steering wheel. Also it allows better cycling through the songs.

I recently purchased the Ice Link Plus for my Ipod Mini. This system allows me to plug into the area where the factory CD changer would go. I will be able to use the MFSW controls and see the song info on the MINI's factory head unit... plus I can hide the Ipod. Very cool! Who needs a CD changer when you can load 1000 songs into an Ipod Mini?

BTW, this thread would be more appropriate in the Audio section
