Interior/Exterior smoked out tail lights

smoked out tail lights
Just wanted to post this quick, cheap, easy mod, instead of paying $100 bucks for the smoke out kit from mini-madness. I went down to my local Tap plastics and bought 2 running yards of 5% adhesive window tint($6.42) cause I wanted to smoke my front and rear side markers since I already have my tails ruby red vinyl. The two running yards is enough to do your tails, sidemarkers, then some. Make sure your surface is clean. If you cut a piece out that is a little bigger than your side marker, peel off the backing to expose the adhesive, spray your mixture of baby shampoo and water on the adhesive side, side marker and front side that you'll be squeggieing to smooth out air bubbles and rid the water underneath. Time to bust out the heat gun, or the wifey's hair dryer, and heat up your film to stretch and adhere bettererer. Next take a sharp blade and trace out your side marker. BAM!!! yuh dun. You can try to remove your side markers to make your smoke job a little easier.
As for the tails, same rules apply, but I highly suggest removing the whole tail light housing and having a second hand helping you somewhat stretch the tint over the odd shaped tail light.
