Griot's Garage

Aloha,
I was looking at the catalog and saw an interesting airhorn.
I wonder were I could wedge that sucker in?
The lag time on my current air horn is kinda bad in a emergency.
Price is not bad too!

Joel

While your there look at the `garage flasher' garage door opener.

Driver side crawl?

I had the standard FIAMM dual airhorns on my previous cars and I
noticed that the 'lag' is not really from the distance of the hose from the
compressor, but the actual compressor lag itself. That small airhorn
(i think you're talking about the snail) has just about the same 'lag'
as any airhorn because of the compressor.

How long is your current horn's hose? Is it any longer than 12"?

Long

It runs from the fire wall to the bumper, as per a DIY I found.
The horns came off my truck w/ 12" hose there was not as much lag. Duh
I was thinking this would be a better way to do it, ( on the Mini) as opposed to the horn, hose, comp. thing.

BTW, Nice Mini

Thanks!

I think you can probably find a better spot for your compressor under
the car closer to your horns.

hey cut it out!

Air Horn!?! LOL, that's Preposterous!

Actually, I WISH (CR/B MCS) would hurry the heck up and GET HERE, so I can quit this watching everyone else do my "original" planned modifications, while they're still "unique", before I can even get started!

Next thing you know, someone will grab up my desired "vanity plate" license plate, or heaven forbid my car's NAME . Is nothing sacred, I ask you?

A boot-load of Good Cheer,
Tatt

PS I did note the "short hose = short lag time" - thanks

Even with the 12", the compressor wasn't fast enough to react to the
chirps when I arm/disarm the alarm on my other car. All I heard was
a click...(relay) and a mild buzz.

mine fit neatly next to the motor...and there is NO lag what so ever!!! 20 dollar special...from some internet site...and I got them cause i love the friendly country sound (if you tap the button quickly ...tap tap...wa wa...and that's country like cruising through the twisties of northern CT or CA country, not red neck country)....and more over....they are BLUE!!!

Yeah, I know I'm late to the air-horn party (typical Tatt-ism), but... (furrows brow) Ken did you WANT the air-horn to "blip" (LOL) when you lock your car to go eat?

Tuls that's a nice tuck-job. With my luck the mice (search "mice nest") will eat mine all up.

Yes I did want it to chirp during lock, on my other car. It's very convenient since you don't need to look at the car to know if it locked or not.

<nodding as if I knew all along> Oh, I got it now (doh!)...

That would explain why/how you noticed the "lag" thing. The little burst was not sufficient to sound the horn. Your post was clear, it was I who was suffering from "TI" (temporary illiteracy) when I first read it and responded.

It's all so obvious now, but the reason I asked if you actually wanted the airhorn to sound when locking - I visualized a LOUD BLAST (airhorns are capable of respectable volume, etc). At highway loudness, it would make a heck of a "Honey, I'm HOME!"

I wonder can we source the blue one like Tuls has, locally in Chicago?

Peace, and Thanks for being Tattman-tolerant,
Tatt

They sell the blue ones at Autozone. They're called Blazer and
OE'ed by Fiamm.
