What % window tint???

Hey everyone I was wondering what % window tint I should get? I was thinkin 20 on the front 2 and 15 or 5 on the rear 2 and 5 on the back window. I wonder how that would look. I have a black/black Mini S so I wanted to get it pretty dark while still able to see. I have 20 on my other car and 5 on the back and I can see pretty well. I would like it to be a little darker though. Let me know what yall think.

I have 5% on my car and it looks good. Ofcourse mine is DS so I would imagine it would look real dark on yours. So go with the 5 all the way around. You will get used to looking out of those dark widows in no time .

I have 20% on my Passat and its plenty dark enough. 5% can really hurt you at night as far as visibility.

I have 30 on the front 2, and 15 on the back 3, and I think it looks great!

I dont have a % suggestion (i have 35... i am happy), but I do suggest you get the same % all the way around (except the windshield).

I have seen cars (not minis) with different % tint for different window panels, and I think it looks kinda goofy.

I say, preserve the black all the way through. And then you'll have to get smoke film for your tailights, the side markers, turn signals, side reflectors, etc etc etc.

or... just get your windows tinted the way you want. I say go for an even tint all around.

Ive got 30% on the front 2 and 10% on the back 3. Looks great and still retains decent visibility.

I went with what is legally acceptable on the back 3 windows and one shade lighter on the driver's/passenger's windows. I really like it from a night visibility point of view but you really can't tell a big difference from the outside.

35% doors (half legal) 20% rears on my Pepper White/Black and it is really hard to tell they're different unless you study them closely.

I did 20% on the rears and 30% on the fronts and it looks excellent! I really hate the 2 tone effect alsdo but you can hardly tell the difference.

My Mini is black/black. I have some pixs if yopu want to see how it looks on black.

here is one, they look darker in person, and the rotors arent rsty anymoe :-) I also lowered the car since that picture.

I'd stick with the darkest allowed by your local laws. Trust me, you don't want to have to peel the film off because you got caught by the police with illegal tint.

Technically correct. The courts threw out Georgia's tint law due to the way it was written. Georgia's law had varying percentages allowed based on the type of vehicle and the specific window in question. The general rule for cars was 35%.

I'm certain a new law (correctly worded) will be passed in this year's legislative session. Laws passed in the legislative session generally go into effect on July 1 of that year.

The last time Georgia enacted a window tint law (late '80s or early '90s), anyone who was not in compliance had until July 1 to remove the tint. After that date, tickets were issued.

35% looks good on my car, and it's fine at night. But NY does not allow any tinting on the front windows, and I have not been hassled at all.

Also, I have very high quality tint, but with poloroid sunglasses on bright days it can mess up the color spectrum. Standard sunglasses have no effect.

Good luck.

regards,
Red

Cool. Thanks for all the advice. I'm still kinda undecided but will make up my mind this week and I'm going to try and get my baby tinted in the next 2 weeks or so. I'll post some pics as soon as i get her done.

3rd ticket

Well, I just got my 3rd ticket in 22 months for window tint. I have 15% on the back three and 50% on the driver/passenger. I got pulled over again last Thursday and written up, as a WRX STi went blowing past turbo spooled-out, etc.
It's *very* difficult not to have an attitude with the CHP. As I heard/saw the WRX race past, I even asked the officer "this is more important than +90mph in a 65mph?" Good grief....

I have 35% on the front windows and 20% on the 3 rear and sunroof. Also a small strip along the top of the windshield. Did it as legal as possible. Of course 35% is the lowest legal in MD but I wanted the back darker for night driving. Yes I said night driving. Cause when a higher vehicle gets behind me it blinds me and the tint helps a bit. Also the tinted sunroof helps cause that thing we have doesn't do anything for me.

3rd ticket

I just got my 3rd ticket in 22 months for window tint. The Frackmobile has 15% on the back three and 50% on the driver/passenger. What was *really* aggravating, is while I was pulling the car over to the shoulder, a WRX STi went blowing past us, turbo spooled out, exhaust roaring, etc.
I couldn't help having an attitude with the officer. As I handed him my license, registration, and proof of insurance, I asked him "is this more important than +90mph in a 65mph?"
Luckily, I have a police buddy who's signs off all my tickets.
