Can these be installed after the fact? Is the wiring there on the 05s? (Where is the sensor? In the mirror itself?)

Are they effective? IE, do they do a good job of dimming the reflections the right amount at the right time?

I didn't realize how much of a problem the headlights of all these SUVs would be until after I bought my car!

I don't know anything about installing them on a car that didn't come with them, but I love mine. It does a very good job of dimming appropriately and quickly. I would highly recommend getting one.

Has anyone confirmed if it can be done? I'm not home to check but the dealer said as long as there is an existing wire harness it should just be a simple task of removing existing mirror and plugging in to wire harness/installing new mirror.

I have a July build 04 and have fitted the auto dimming mirror. I had to find a switched 12V power supply as there was not one behind the headliner. I only connected the hot and ground as the third wire is (I believe) a connection to disable the auto dimming when reverse is engaged. From August 04 onward cars are pre-wired for the mirror and all you have to do is plug it in.
To remove the mirror rotate the base counter clockwise a quarter turn and it pops right off.
Hope this helps everyone. Don't have the part number on hand but just call your local dealer or one of the dealers mentioned on the BBS who offers a discount (I did).
