I received my HotPocket the other day. I too was dismayed by the quality of the product. But you have to take it for what it is worth. When I installed it, it fit perfectly. It is not noticable from the side and the soft fabric makes it seem bigger. I did not attach the velcro because I wanted to let it form to the space. Even with no velcro attached, it works great. I would recommend this to everyone who is in the market.

I just recieved my organizer from MOSS. I went with it because it did not cover the entire hole and left the back still open. As well as it being hard plastic, I prefered it over the cloth "hot pocket" solution. The only thing is you need to be careful with what you put in it. It's plastic and no nice fabric covering. I'm happy with it so far.

Hot Pocket should have been standard. Igot it. It works great and doesn't look cheap.
Well done TVA.

Has anyone bought the Mini Cooper Center Console Storage Unit from RSpeed? It's very pricey but seems to be of a higher quality than the 'hotpocket'. The link is below.

>>Is this part now legally available stateside through the dealers? Last I read it was only available through "special" connections arranged on MINI2 with some fella in Germany? How much did they charge for this part? I was interested, but with the aforementioned arrangements, I think it was a little pricey. Hopefully it'll be more reasonable if we can get it locally. <<

If you order through Classic Auto Campus (in the MCO sponsor directory), the price for the parcel shelf is around $71 shipped. Apparently the heavy rubber pad (very nice!) that sits in it accounts for $27 of that, but I don't know if that part can be omitted or not.

As far as being pricy, I think $71 for a very high-quality OEM part that adds a huge amount of storage space is a much better deal than $25 for a "seventh grade sewing project" hot pocket that could be be duplicated relatively easily.

I like the looks of this unit. It says it's two-piece. How does it install? Does it use that "single screw" that the Moss center console says that unit uses?

By "unit," I was reerring to the two-shelf center console that Azure was talking about above. I think at $59.95 US, it's the same as the one Mini-Mania offers:

http://new.minimania.com/web/Item/NMI4102/InvDetail.cfm.

It's padded, so it's not noisy like the Moss plastic cubby, but it's got shelfs and seems to fit nicely and make good use of the space.

It is, however, $60.

The RSpeed style center console is a two-piece stacking unit that provides two shelves.
It fits purely by tension and the rigid material. It is very stable once installed and will not move.

Hope that helps,
JS

Couln't do without my glovebox organizer. Owners manual fits perfectly, nice place to put a few pens, flashlight, MINI CD case, etc. and no more stuff rolling around and spilling out when opening.

Moss' plastic center console box works well for me. It slipped in nice and tight. Didn't even use the torx screw. The lip on mine is flush with the cigarette lighter part. Yes, stuff in there does clink around, but gluing in some black felt on the inside would help lots. Not a bad little gadget to have.

I have a few doubts as to the center console storage shelf gadget. How wide are the shelfs and what can you possibly fit in them? No way can you put loose change in there. And the Design Integrity of the stand alone downtubes gets lost somehow.
