I received my aero kit side skirts today and I went down to a local shop to get a price quote on getting them painted body color. The place came highly recommended by everyone I spoke to.... HOWEVER, the guy gave me a quote of $300!! Classic MINI sells the skirts pre-painted for an extra $80 a piece... so, is this guy trying to screw me?

For others out there who had their skirts painted, how much did you pay? I am especially interested in your answer if you are in the northern CA area.

 

that seems ridicuoulsy high. I am thinking of ordering the side skirts and getting them painted in the bay area as well. Hopefully you can find something reasonable and good quality, if so let me know. thanks.

I would say that's wayyyyyyy too much given they're basically ready to paint.

I was quoted $150 at my shop for painting just the side skirts (regular version in my case) which would require even more work since they don't come primed like the aero skirts if I decided to bring them another time, but I was able to bring all 14 trim pieces at once. The shop painted everything for less than $400.

 

Methinks these guys are trying to screw me....

 

Although that is much more than ordering them painted, that sounds about right. You have to remember it isn't about how much they have to spray, but a minimum charge to get started. If they are primed and you are leaving the trim black and I have your paint available I can do it for 150.
