What bolts do I loosen? The ones on the hook itself or the latch itself? I could have the dealer to fix it, but then again that is just a pain for something so simple to do. I would have to schedule, then have them find the noise etc etc. So DIY is much easier for little things like that.

the hook is easier to get to if u use the hook then pull up slightly.

i did it myself on my chrome hook & it werked for a while then the dealer ended up correctin' it in the end

Did they mess with the latch itself? If i go to the dealer, they will automaticly say that the noise is coming from my rear seat delete. I do not want to deal with the dealer in not taking the extra steps in getting the noise fixed. That is why it is easier for my to just do it myself and not worry about them making excusses that its what I did and not a factory problem.

Well, I completed my rear seat delete today. The easiest thing was removing the seats. The hardest part was installing the damn cover. I think it was the installer though as I went through a number of iterations attempting to find the correct/most efficient fastening method. Home Depot loves me...

Pics to follow.

We wrapped up the testing on the harness kits tonight and took a few dark shots just for a visual. Here's what the harness attachments look like. Better photos will come later.

The new delete kit for the harness looks great. I like the removable panels. Looks better than I had imagined.

I just want to let everyone know how wonderful this kit is and how awesome Steve at Shrader performance is.

The kit came packed very well. Had clear, color instructions for seat removal. I had some major brain farts and had to talk to Steve about completing the removal. He was patient, nice and bottom line is I got everything out and got the kit in.

Great product. Great Vendor.

Here are some photos that might help you out. I did the install last week and it went real well.

I installed my RSD kit last night. I'll probably have to move the grommets for the Schroth harness since I have Rallye 3s instead of the MINI specific ones that attach to the factory belt receptacles. I went back and forth on whether to get them to install the grommets or not. I was wrong on placement . I thank Steve for dealing with me while I was making the decision.

I plan on rebuilding the speaker box starting this weekend. I'm adding another sub and putting them on angles with the amp in the center. The new box will be flush with the RSD kit in the middle.

I want to make a 3D MINI logo to go on the kit then cover the entire thing, including the speaker box, with a roll on bedliner material. If it sucks I'll pad it and cover it with vinyl or carpet

Note: the gaps are exaggerated by the shadows. The fit is nice.

I love mine. The only complaint is the noise has gone up significantly and I can now hear the rear hatch rattle loud and clear. I'm going to invest in some FatMatt and put a couple pillows under the RSD as Randy had suggested.

I am also going to make a secure spare tire bracket that will mount under the RSD to the old seat belt mount holes. The spare will lay flat and attach to the bracket through a couple of 8mm holes drilled through the RSD. The holes can be plugged when not in use. I will post photos whe it is done.

Two more pics showing my Rallye 3 harnesses hooked up. They come out behind the unit in front of my speaker box. Looks like I didn't need grommets after all. Ah well.

Level Load Floor

Some of you here expressed interest in a piece that would form a level load floor in the trunk that is the same height as the RSD.

I mocked up a quick prototype today of what such an item would look like. If there is enough interest, I'll have a batch made.

The best part... it easily stores under your Rear Seat Delete Kit when not needed! Even with the seat belt attachments still in the car.

It also provides hidden storage space in the trunk under the load floor unit. It's only about 3" high but you could put many items back there out of site.

Cost would be fairly inexpensive. Roughly $40-$50 at most based on what I've seen thus far. Ignore the dust, this was just a quick photo...

excellent

I sent you an email - but if you think the flat floor version of the seat delete will hold my two 80 lbs dogs count me in too. I was in my garage making cardboard templates this afternoon, but yours looks a lot better than mine would.

On the extended flat-floor piece, how do you allow for interior air to exit the car? It's not easy to see in the photos how you allow for air to get to the exhaust grills.

I dont know how effective those vents are actually. I have had mine completely covered for 45k miles by the audio install.Whatever they are supposed to be doing I have gotten by without that function so far

I don't think that the covering would be air tight, and thus the vents would still be able to do their job.

Exactly. As long as you're not putting a seal around the vents, air will still flow. The Rear piece leaves about 2 inches gap on each side left and right, and due to the curvature of the back section, leaves about an inch in the center and less at the corners.
