JCW Carbon Fiber Boot peice Installed

Well its here and it looks great. A small peice of actual Carbon Fiber that is made by MINI and sold with the JCW name.

Part #:51-13-0-395-503 which I bought from CLASSIC MINI. (They are the most helpful parts dept I have encountered yet.) With my NAM discount I got the part for $134 + UPS ground shipping. Not bad I think. The part is not only the carbon top peice but also the boot release and license plate lights.

Now I installed it with 2 people and 4 hands. Reason being is explained below.

Install:
Using a torx screwdriver the peice holds on by 4 screws. Then release the super short wire about 1/2″. It would of really helped if it was even 1/2″ longer to allow for easier movement. It wasn’t till after I did it that Mark from Gomotoring.com told me that I could of released more of the wire by removing some interior trim. DOH!! Oh well so its on. I think the results speak for themselves.

Carbon mod next on the list…Spoiler and wing parts on the bonnet and boot emblems.

Looks good!

I know this mod is just cosmetic, but I'm curious... did you happen to weigh the factory piece and the carbon fiber piece?

Thanks.

The weight in this piece is not the veneer (i.e., the CF or chrome) but the plastic bulb holders and electornics under the veneer

Just installed the JCW CF Boot handle on my DS/W 2002 MCS. Looks great. The install would be very tough if you didn't remove the interior trim piece. Six Philips screws and some clips - easy off - easy on. The Boot handle is held on with four Torx screws but no double sided tape.

$40 part from MINI. Made of tough vinyl and is a piece of cake to install.
Not sure what else to say...its a new 2005 accessory.

man, you have wayyy to much money to blow on cosmetics!!!

you know, you could have made it a hell of alot easier by taking out the 6 screws that hold the interior trim panel on and plugging it in that way, takes about 5-10 min if done properly.

but, ive said it once and i'm gonna say it again,

you just dont know what the hell your doing, do you?
(inside joke guys)

How exactly do I order one of those throught that classic MINI site you linked? I went to order it and all it asked for was my name, email addy, and phone number and then it said order request had been sent. It never asked my address, credit card information or anything. How do I get this thing?

Thanks for the info.

Forget their site. Call their parts dept and tell them about the NAM discount and the Part #
