Floppy Cupholder? Here's the Fix!
If you have a problem with the Mini-Fini cup holder going floppy on you, this is the fix.
Reach on the bottom of the pivot point and feel for two small tabs. Use your finger tips to gently compress them together while pushing up on the cup holder with your other hand. The tabs will compress just enough to allow the pivot rod to slide up. One off, it will look like this:
The solution is actually a tapered plug that is available at any Ace Hardware Store.
If you can’t find the plug anywhere, send me a self addressed stamped envelope and I will mail you one – I bought a bunch of them. PM me for the address.
Put a little soap on the plug and stick the smaller end up the hollow shaft of the cup holder. Don’t push it all the way in. It should look like this:
Now, with the plug fitted loosely into the shaft, push the cup holder shaft back into the cradle, as far down as you can. It should click. Now reach up from underneath and push the plug the rest of the way up the shaft until it is flush with the end. You might want to leave a little sticking out in case you want to take the holder off again.
Your cup holder is now better than new!
EDIT: You don't have to take the holder out to do this fix. I just did it to show the photos.
