At my last post, it was on backorder by MINIUSA and not yet released. It has been released and I just received one from Classic MINI. This is quite a low cost for a dramatic change in appearance.

Live and learn...I contacted Classic about the scoop and they said it came unpainted... I don't want to pay big $$ to paint one part again! Anybody have a black scoop they want to get rid of?

Once you get used to this process, it's easy, but if if you are used to just pointing and spraying, painting can seem very difficult.
If anyone wants a detailed step by step of how i painted mine, let me know.

if it was primered from the factory, thats a different type of paint you will get out of a can at the hardware or auto parts store.
thet primer that comes on one from the factory would only work well if you were to spray it with a base/clear 2 stage paint.
even if you were to spray 4 or 5 coat of enamel on it, then buff, you would still probably have some lifting due to the tyep of primer used.

The picture doesn't do the idea justice. I think it would look snappier in real life ... maybe with a red top?

bee1000n, for just the black grill alone, did you see post #45 in the thread?
