Don't you guys have something better to do then disscusing the size of the hood scoop

I'm meeting with the boys in Detroit right after Christmas, and I will certainly
entertain the idea of making the scoop more agressive if there's enough
interest......

I sadly would rather the slightly more agressive version because it would stand out just not as much as the WRX version.. Just my thoughts... the latest version looks a little too stock for an aftermarket part even with the extra flow. Whatever you decide... once its finished I will make a final determination on if I will buy it.... but I wouldn't mind stealing an older prototype version either...

Version 1.2 more aggressive. Plus bigger area to grab air.

The opening in the back is the same. 1.2 has a raised ramp= bigger air intake area. Aggressive

The one I sent Peter is the V1, the more aggressive one. So that will be the one that will be produced. Glad you all like it. The second version, V2, is something I was playing around with so the stock air diverter could be used without mod's. Next trick is to duplicate the look of V1, to work with a stock IC air diverter.

Joel, would you please post pics of the version to be produced by Peter? I've followed this thread from the git-go (ask Sid ), but I'm confused about which version will be produced by M7. I get confused easily, so it's not your fault!

Joel. From your post #287 are you saying the version that M7 has will only work on a car with the Alta IC that Sid has. I kind of get that impression from what you say about making V2 working on a stock car. Help Please. Also will the version M7 has work on his new IC that is coming out. I'd hate to see people get one than not have it work on their new IC.

This is the one that we sent to M7, V1.0 (without the exposed mounting)...

Joel, would you please post pics of the version to be produced by Peter? I've followed this thread from the git-go (ask Sid ), but I'm confused about which version will be produced by M7. I get confused easily, so it's not your fault!

62Lincoln; look at post #277. This is version 1. The mounting will be done from underneath, so screw holes will not be through the outer surface.

newbs49;

This one I have to apologize for confusing anyone. I spoke out of turn, that is; to early, before we sat down to prepare it for production. To make it simple, V1 will work with the stock IC when it goes on sale. Please realize that this was designed for Sid's car originally, Alta equipped, and now we are going to have to redesign it to fit stock ICs as well. I see it as just a small problem. One easily fixed.
To the second question; I need to ask your indolence to wait till we get together and look into what will work for the new IC. I appreciate your concern. We share it also.

I hope this clear up some of the confusion caused from my post. Again I apologize to everyone in this matter, and ask for your patients.

'05 MCS Hood Scoop - Broken Top Mounting Brackets

Joel, any chance you could include picture of the mounting points underneathe the hood cowl? I had the misfortune of overtightning mine and broke the plastic bolt head retainers...... looks like I need to either buy a new hood scoop or figure out a better way to trap the bolt head to keep from turning when mounting to car.

Looking for a better way - thought you might hve come up with a better way to trap those mount bollts.

Thanks & Good Luck with your venture ~

Sorry to hear that the mounting flanges on your scoop broke, but realize that the stock hood-scoop was never to be removed other then to replace when
broken. After close to a year of production of M7 scoop I think the system that we use, is more then bullet proof (captioned hex-bolt). As for JS he needs to go to bed earlier or stay of the hard stuff......

Got it. What will happen to the scoop from post #273? That's more up my alley. I'm from the 'school of stealth' or something like that.

When I put my Alta IC on the locktite on the scoop bolts were so tight that it broke the plastic flanges off. My temp fix was just that, and the scoop got scooped off the front of the car. So mine is naked right now until the "high flow" scoop is available. I hope a CF unit is offered, otherwise flat black it goes. Kinda old school.
