Retro Fitting Auto Dimming Rear View mirror...
Is it possible to purchase the OEM Auto Dimming Rear View mirror and replace the standrad one? I had a VW New Beetle and I was able to do this by just removing the old one and replacing it with the OEM auto dimming one. It was plug and play since the wiring was already there...
Has anyone doen this to their mini?

I dunno. You can simply swap in a homelink rearview though because the 05 cars are pre-wired for that.
I guess the thing to do would be to borrow. Find a friend with autodimming mirror and pop it on there (takes point zero, zero, zero seconds to remove and install--just twist).
The price for a homelink rearview is about $200 bucks. An autodimming homelink is about $450. Makes the third package seem like such a bargain now.

I have already inquired about this because I was wanting the Homelink (I have TWO garages). Our older cars (2004 and older) are not prewired for this so I gave up on it. But, if someone with a 2005 can tell us where the pre-wired wires (did I just type that) connect, we may be able to retro-fit them ourselves.
I would love to be able to add this to my 2004.
Wow, I just noticed that this is my 69th post. My favorite number.
