2003 Seats in 2005/2006 ???

Does anyone know if 2003 Sport Seats will fit in the new models? I'm considering moving up to a 2005/2006 model and would like to retain my discontinued Profile Leather seats. Just wondering if it's a simple swap or if anything may have changed to prevent this from happening?

Thanks!

the 2005/2006 MINIs have airbag sensors in the bottom cushion of the seats. Swaping them out would probably cause that nasty little airbag light to go on in the dash and near the rear view mirror.

Thanks Gabe. I was talking with TheOfficeMaven about the feasibility of this and it seems it won't be worthwhile to do---better for me to sell them as an added value to my '03 Cooper I guess.

How exciting, Richard! What are you thinking about ordering/buying?

That's a secret! Shhhhhhh

Just kidding. Most likely something similar to what I got now, but stripped down. Going to make it into more of a track MINI--lighter, more performance stuff--will transfer all my mods from my '03 to the '06

Mainly upgrading to have Getrag---not too happy to know I'm on tranny #2 and warranty is up in 2000 miles.

I hear that. While my '02 Cooper was basically trouble free, I was still more and more nervous about that Midlands transmission as the miles got closer to 50k.

Best of luck with the switch!

Aha! A day at the track and you are addicted....how great!! With your already great street-driving skills, I'm sure you'll be an awesome competitor, Richard!

I hear you on the tranny situation. My '02 Cooper had a difficult time getting into reverse. The Getrag is a very nice set-up! Now...what about colors?

Most likely same colors as I have now--Hyper Blue/White--although I may go Astro Black as well. LOL.

I'm not looking for significant change. I mean, if I could just stick a Getrag 5 speed in my '03 Cooper, I'd be perfectly happy with what I got now. As for tracking--it was a great day! I'm a lot better driver than I was before--atleast definitely more knowledgable.

I thought the difference was that the 05 seat has some sort of sensor to detect whether or not a passenger is in the seat by weight - so that if a child is in the front it would disable the passenger side airbag from the dash.

The light above the rear view mirror lights up with "Passenger Off", no?

I want to sell my stock front and rear seats but am unsure whether a >=2005 would be able to use it without ill effect.
