Might even shed a couple of pounds...

keep in mind that many aftermkt intake boxes were designed to mate-up with the liner though. And with the GRS IC, the diverter is on top of the liner, so removing it would also necessitate some minor mods...

On this strut bar, is there an adjustment for load?

In my brief experience with it, the only way I could find to change load was by moving the end brackets a bit. That's not a reliable means, since the strut mount nuts are only held on with ~25lb-ft of torque.

You do have to cut the Alta CAI box and the ECU cover. No big deal comes out pretty clean, just dont take out too much. Mine does rub on the hood insulation, but I'm not worried about it. I thought about taking mine out as well. Heat isnt going to be a factor on your paint, it would take some close exhaust heat to really start making a mess of things.
Other thing might be to just cut an area out around where the strut contacts the liner. I had to do that for my Tein EDFC units on the shocks. worked fine.

How about bringing back the $129 special you had a few weeks ago?

I think this strut bar looks great, but find it not appealing that I would have to remove the liner,

Judging from comments in the forums, that seems to be the case for many (maybe even most) strut bars, from a variety of manufacturers. A bar may cause the hood to bulge up in the rear, or even prevent it from closing. There must also be some variation in MINI tolerences, because the same bar may work perfectly for some but not for others.

I'm planning to go to the Umnitza shop this week for a fitting on my 2006 MC convertible. They indicated that if it doesn't fit, they will see whether shaving down the end brackets may help.

My hood liner showed clear indentions from the strut towers, ecu cover, unichip, etc. There was no way the hood was going to close properly with the brace and liner both in place. So I removed the liner, cut out the "center" piece and reinstalled the remaining pieces... an hour later, as I was dremmeling the plastic hoodscoop air-guide, to install the new CF M7 scoop, I knew I had now crossed the line from "plug-and-play" to "prepare-before-install" type of mods

Who manufactures the bar? I'm just curious cause i saw a pic in a Cusco advertisement and it was clearly a MINI engine bay, and it looked just like that?
