Well I will see what my guy says. I will keep you updated Davbret. Did you try calling some of the aftermarket people who have done this to their show cars?
No, it's really that difficult. The entire lamp would need to be heated and then the top clear lens pulled up from all sides at once or the black housing is ruined. Trust me, this is NOT your typical headlamp mod like in most cars. I'm not willing to try again as the last time the headlights were MANGLED afterwards!!!!!
Guys - you can paint the plastic around the headlights. The actual part which the bulb is in and its surround is the part that shouldn't be painted. The stuff around those parts have nothing to do with reflecting the light. Just look at the picture above. This topic has been beated many times on many BMW forums (painting the headlight insert thingy's).
Not my style either, but while we're talking about headlights; clear something up for me. There's the main [or regular] beams up top - the half ovals; the high beams below - the smaller round lights. What is the third opening? I have Xenons, so it's not actually a light, so what is it? First correct answer gets $5 cash money from me.

>>Not the glass, the chrome part inside the light fixture. If you saw the puicture you would know what I am talking about. Anyone have that picture?

Beware of law of unintended consequences (#2): this will affect reflectivity of light beam of headlight.
This is a pretty old thread (last post prior to me was over 3 years ago), but has anyone else tried painting the inside of their headights? I think it would look a lot better with less chrome inside the light. How hard of a project is it to do?
I painted the inside of my headlights last summer!!! I like it!
I was just going to say that a guy in my club painted his this summer and it looked really nice and didn't seem to affect the performance of the lights at all...so...just add my witness to Nate's testimony, I guess.
