I use a toothpick with the tip flattened (hit your counter top to make the tip flat) and apply the touch up in layers. depending on how deep it its, you may need to do 6-7 layers (coats) or even up to 13 layers like i had to do on mine.
Get the paint so it is slightly convex let it dry for 2 days. Take a
1500 grit and wetsand it so it is at the same height as the surrounding
paint. finish off with a fine compound like ScratchX to polish it up along
with the surrounding paint.

The steps stated above are perfect. I have also used the new touchup
pens on other cars. Has a brush tip on one side and a ballpoint tip on the other side. Not sure if the Mini colors are avail yet. It works well too.
Touchups take practice. Take your time and dont rush it. Be sure to let it dry for a few days as stated above.
