Rear Seat Delete Install

I installed the " rear seat delete kit " from Shrader performance (http://www.rearseatdelete.com/) this afternoon and I am very happy with the results. The instructions were very clear and it was a snap to install. Everything you need ins included even some nifty plastic caps to cover the holes left when you remove the rear seats. All in all a very good piece of hardware. It can be covered with any material and I have some plans for that down the road. I have included some photos but they really do not do it justice. Photography is not my strong suit

Looks good . If you don't mind me asking how come you still have the stock seats. The only reason I ask is because it seems like you have modded every other part of your car besides the seats. Can you feel the weight differance with the seats out?

I've been contemplating doing this.

Any feeling for what the load capacity might be? I've seen the pictures with 90lbs sitting on it, but my dogs weigh more than that.

I have a bit of a dilemma in the seat dept. Yes I would like more aggressive seating however I drive 5 to 6 hr trips quite frequently and I do not want to be locked into a " race " seat for that length of time.I will really hate to give up the heating option as well. I have sat in many different seats and there is one set by Recaro that seem to fit the bill of slightly more confined seating but not too much. The model is called the Topline. It is on the list of things to do but for now my money is going more into the motor area and I can always just cinch up the 5 point harder As for feeling a difference my car is certainly on the heavy side with the audio so anything helps. Of course you can always think of the 36 lbs you save as almost half as much of a weight reduction as the new CSL " lightweight " Mini

here is a feel of what you can do... in regards to weight support... of my personal made one...

I cannot however say anything for the "kit" you buy

18 lbs... and click here for pic battery died on camera on this pic so no more for now. If people want to see how much weight it will hold, bring some weights...

2 Linchpins $.58
36 square feet of carpet (black) $12.36
1 Hi strength can #90 spray adhesive $12.47
1 sheet 48x24x.249 AL $139.96

total= $165.39

For something like that i might be inclined to perhaps cut a piece of plywood to lay on top just to be sure. I think I am going to be making two covers one in CF for the show circuit and one plywood for track days so I can carry extra wheels and jack etc. The unit itself may be able to do it but for those occaisions I will play it safe .

Nice audio setup. Do your subs and amp remove quickly for track days?

I can take it out in about 20 min but I haven't seen the need to do it as yet. It is more entertaining to watch some guy that you have been harassing the entire session drive by in his one seat no interior ride and see all that crap

They were saying it is a loss of 36 pounds. That's not bad.

Here is mine and all that it cost was for the carpet and the can of carpet paint. Under 30 bucks!

Considering makine a CF version, but that will not be for awhile.

I used a piece of plywood that I had laying in the garage.
