Interior/Exterior Favorite First Mods
#27
Here were my first (within 2 months) - nothing earth shattering, but great for me.
- glove box organizer
- rear seat straps (for pulling up the seats from the hatch!)
- remove "Cooper S" emblems from rear boot with dental floss
- remove silly metallic/silver sticker on rear aerokit bumper
- Zaino! Zaino! Zaino! (ok, this was the very first thing I did and it wasn't a mod, but it was certainly worth the investment)
- remove air bag warning stickers from visors (ugh, what adhesive are they using)
- mount SmartTag/EZPass stealthily in the rear seat sunroof window
- replaced "chrome" Cooper S side vents/repeater with black side vent/repeater from base model Cooper
- Since I didn't get a rear fog light, bought the rear brake light kit so I now have 4 brake lights in the rear (and no ugly black filler in the rear fog light position)
- Change holder designed to fit in a cup holder (got this from Target's automotive section - removed bottom half and the top half fits perfectly in our useless cup holders under the toggle switches.
- Sunroof deflector (looks ok on a jet black MINI - don't think it'd look so good on other colors)
- Black license plate frame with clear, no distortion plastic cover
Most of these are inexpensive options to consider that make the MINI more user friendly or more appealing to me (in my personal opinion)
On the short list for the next 12 months:
- black out beltline
- paint wheel arches/trim to match body color (jet black)
- tint windows
- reduction SC pulley and 2% crank pulley
Long term -
- new, lighter wheels (vs. current S-Lites) with non runflat tires
- Other performance mods
Hope this gives you some ideas - to each their own!

It'd also be nice to find some sort of "retrofit" list of items from differing model years used on others. for example, if I could find a way to use the ceiling clock found in the earlier MINI (2002-2004) in my 2006, I'd do it - the little clock in the ODO is really small.
It's things like this that might also be interesting.

Msfitoy's first mod was a set of Racing Hart CP8-R 12 lb wheels mounted to Pirada Spec 2s. They were waiting for her when she rolled into the garage
Still have a set of Dunlop RF/S-Lite Silver wheels with 20 miles for sale

I thought I'd pose the question to the group and see what consensus I get on this. What's the "favorite first" mod that comes to mind? In order to keep this general so all readers can benefit, I won't give any details on my MINI other than what's in my sig.
I'm looking forward to motoring soon next chance we get!
