heheeh looks like im not the only one who checks that guys blog despite not being able to read it.

There is actually a vendor on ebay who imports the craftsquare mirrors every now and then to america for 500 SHIPPED...which is still steep, but they are amazing mirrors. MSFITOY has them on his S/B MCS and they have looked great.

Well here's the problem dude, go check your MINI's mirrors. Notice that unlike 90% of cars, the mirrors are attached to a body panel (door) intsead of attached in the corner of the window. When you remove the mirror, there is a large empty hole the shape of the mirror which is rather deep. If you wanted to use the ones that you linked to, you would have to remove the stock ones, and be stuck with a large indentation in your door. The craftsquare ones are so expensive because they have a custom machined shiny piece that fits into the indentation and allows for the mounting of the 'gt mirrors'.

Some people tried making their own mount to fill the hole but had lots of problems due to the complex curve of the door etc.

I don't understand what they're saying either.

I've posted comments twice or so and I've always gotten a response though.

Actually I saw it a little late so I thought that If I'd ask in that "topic" noone would answer, maybe I should ask him about it in a more recent topic so he sees the question. I'd love me some of those, they look great on black, doesnt' even have to be CF, if only I knew how to paint the inserts black, but I think its a pain in the *** and you have to bake the headlights and stuff.

Thank you, I really appreciate it! The picture in my sig is modified though, lowered and removed front plate, other then that, that's how it looks. Not now though, damn winter.

I've never seen your car, pic?

yea, no offense taken MSFITOY!

after 'Rally' posted the point about the base... i looked at it closer & the mirror did seemed a bit small to me but disregarded it since i like the heated elements in mine & do need it out here in the EastSide :.

Well just incase anyone else had the same thought I will share what I found out. I emailed ms design asking how wide of tires will fit with this kit with spacers(I told them I had 17x7.5's). They replied the next day and to my suprise and disappointment they told me that this wasn't a real wide arch kit, it just looks like it. They told me that the recomended tire size for this kit is either a 215/40/17 or 215/35/18. I could have sworn those arches looked bigger than stock but oh well.

I have the price sheet for MS Design kit if anyone is interested.
Quote for front, fenders, side and rear plus shipping came around 1400 euro plus 270 euro for shipping..

IMO by far the best kit for our cars . It doesn't really change the lines at all and it's not some super goddy/in your face/ricer body kit. I think the only thing I might change would be all the holes for the screws on the arches but besides that it's perfect..

Sid is correct about the base being the key. We had looked into having some made and was very encouraged by the low cost of the mirror itself but then blown away by the complexity and cost of the base. We were trying to bring something to market in the $300 range and there was no way so we gave up on it.

Sid- no not on my car....mine is red

RE: MS design kit. The arches ARE bigger....but it doesnt help with running bigger tires because where you rub is actually part of the body, not the older fenders. It does however allow you to run a wider stance. And you dont have to have them shipped from europe. VIS carries them (atleast the cooper version)
