Aero Black Grill installed

Swapped the Red slat front grill for the Aero Black ones. Looks much better with the black bonnett stripes and roof.

Looks really good. Did you have much trouble with matching the lower grill to the MCS bumper?

No, it is time consuming. A Dremel tool is great to use. There are several ways to trim and mount. I chose to trim off two upper and two lower mounting tabs on the new piece and then create new slots for them in the grill cover. If I had it to do again I would not cut off any of the the tabs and make slots for all of them. Just makes it sit tighter.
Just take the time to measure and mark well then trim slowly.

Looks great hounddog. It's funny to see a MINI with the stock grill. I've had mine changed out for a while now and I'm so use to seeing the areo grill. Nice job! I know it's a bit of work and from the picture it looks like you did a quality job!

looks good!

after having one on my MC, i decided to leave a slatted grille on my MCS. after looking at the aero grille on the MC for a while, i started not to like it, and it wasnt going back after i had hacked up the bumper.

i'll think twice before doing another aero grille install!

Makes the front look so much more agressive...more definition. Great look especially since you have the black stripes.

That's how CR/B is supposed to look. Should I put stripes on? I lean toward keeping it clean but your car looks great!

Did you run into any problems removing the top grill?

I had done the aero grill's on my 04 MCS, the top was incredibly easy. But now i have my 05' MCS and the other day went to do the top grill and the little tabs that hold it on will not unscrew off..... The just sit there and spin . After sitting there for a while trying to figure out how to get them off i gave up and have been figuring out what to do.

Any suggestions? Has this happened to your 05'?

Also did you remove the bumper for the lower grill or not? I removed it for my 04' but i heard some people say you can do it without removing it.

Thanx for any help!

No problems with top grill. To get the small nuts off the plastic threads, just slip a small flatblade screwdriver between the nut and grill. That little pressure will let the nut unscrew.
Yes I removed the entire lower grill cover. I wouldn't want to do the bottom any other way. Time and patience are the key for the bottom piece. (Oh and measure twice cut once)

Did you mean bumper cover?

I finally did get the top cover off by prying the nuts (using a screw driver and a snap ring plier) while screwing them off with a socket wrench. Though i did end up losing one somewhere in the engine bay....
