Air Scoops

The plastic screens in my air scoops just below my windshield have deteriorated. Rather than get MINI to replace them I'd was interested if there is anything that would be more of a permenant fix. I would like something in black.

I just ordered mine from Classic on Sunday and received them on Tuesday. They're a little under $6 a piece. Black, one piece design, and look a lot better than the stock ones that came with my '03. Check them out under the vendor directory Installation was a "snap" too

If you are still under warranty, MINI will give you the updated 2005/2006 versions for free. . . I recently had this done.

The updated versions are a different design and do not have the foam so they will not deteriorate.

Hello MP....

You could get the Benfer ones: http://www.benferperformance.com/mai...uct=BFP-MCOWLS

I think Ociari (sp?) do the same sorts of scoops that aren't as big...

I was looking at AndrewH's mesh in his cowl vents (03 MCS) the other day - it's totally broken down and scrappy looking.... ..the 05' and later vents have a different type of material and grid pattern...

Thanks for all the advice. Since they have redesigned the scoops I may do what Yucca suggested and let MINI replace them.

Also, if you take the scoops off you can actually open the scoop (it is two pieces held together by plastic tabs) and remove the foam. Then you can close it and put it back on. Looks fine, better than the ripped up foam. The holes are bigger but that doesnt matter unless you park under pine needles or something like that. I have had mine like this for a while with no problems, its a quick and easy fix.
