Wow, that's nice!
Sure didn't take you long to insert the wood; I just mailed that sucker on Saturday!!
Now that I see the finished product, I'm imagining the possibilities....

LOL... no need to steal them. I got my shifter ball on a site called HotRodGirl.com. It came pre-drilled perfectly for the shift shaft (just a wee bit larger) along with a rubber boot (which I discarded as it was too large to fit inside the ball when applied to the shaft). I tried a few things to put it on (friction tape, etc.), none of which worked then just squirted a dab of silicone sealent (like you use to seal bathtubs or fish tank glass) into the hole. About 1/4 or 1/3 of the hole filled is PLENTY. Push down till the excess squirts out, wipe off with a paper towel and allow to dry overnight and it's all good! It feels totally vibration damped because of the silicone and has just enoug wiggle that I can tell I'll be able to get it of if I really want (unlike Epoxy). HotRodGirl sells any and every pool ball as a shifter ****.

You don't even need to pull THAT hard... Just be careful that it doesn't go flying when it releases. I just put one knee on the front seat, leaned over and imagined I was lifting a dumbell - it came loose pretty easy. Just pull straight up, you don't need to twist at all. there's a notch at the top of the shaft that you'll need to put back in if you hacksaw it like the poster above and ever want to replace the stock ****, be warned.
