Opinions sought

I was at a local MINI meet last weekend and saw a HB/S JCW MCS with a neat antenna. The owner told me that he got the antenna from a VW site.

Well, to cut a long story short, I found the antenna at ecstuning.com. It's called the JOM antenna. The antenna comes with two adapters to set the length, long or short.

Option 1: OEM Antenna

Option 2: JOM Antenna with the short adapter

Option 3: JOM Antenna with the long adapter

Right now, the opinions in the house are divided 50/50. My better half likes the short option and this being HER MINI , she got her way.....the short option.....

I am trying to garner support to convince her that my option, the longer JOM antenna, is better.

Let me know what you think!!!!

Thanks

I prefer that there would be no black antenna at all. Just the smooth aluminum look

I think you should listen to your wife. Regardless of what looks better.

Her exact words when she first set her eyes on it..... but then, till we find that PERFECT antenna, I guess this has to do!!! I am actually planning to get a spray paint can which matches the existing aluminum look.

Since the black piece is threaded at both ends and can be replaced, I am planning to go to local hardware, get a screw with the exact pitch and thickness of the current one, get it cut to a length so that when both the top and the bottom pieces are screwed in, they fit wtihout anything black being visible.....

Just as an aside, since what you want is not an option, what do you think of the available three????

But I always do.......as is also evident in the antenna choice....

But then this opinion seeking exercise is just for some solace to my pride...or whatever is still left of it.......

Well it's tough isn't it? From the pics I like the longer version because the antenna is broken up into more aesthetically pleasing sections (thirds, more or less). However, the view from the road...and that's what really counts...would be quite different. In this case, the shorter black section may vanish altogether and the overall effect would be simply a shorter antenna...and a shorter antanna might look best (my preference anyway).

See...maybe you can both be right?!?! :impatient

You, sir....are a real help!!! What is your profession, hostage negotiator, arbitrator or something of that ilk??? You have obviously mastered the fine art of walking the thin line, making sure no one ever gets mad at you, whatver the outcome!!!!!!

The black part does vanish when you look at the MINI as it is being driven on the road....
