Sunroof noise reduction - worth it?

Just got my '06 MCS, loving it!

I don't much care for the look of these - but considering a wind deflector - any thoughts? Saw this for $50, at least I could remove it later!

I would get the one from MINI. No adhesive to remove if you want it off. More expensive though.

I don't like the idea of those things, they take away the point of a panoramic sunroof. With the windows down and the sunroof open, it feels almost like a cabrio! Almost...

My MA had the MINI branded wind deflector on his MINI. Said it worked well. I might get one for some long road trips this year. It's definitely not for around town driving

i noticed how loud the wind was with the factory deflector from my first test drive.

but i'd hate to add the bubble-over type wind deflector since i think it ruins the lines of the car, and i think i have some weird association with the typical smoked plastic deflector and trailer park grannies.

the wind noise is seriously killing me. Id have the windows and sunroof open more if the noise wasnt drowning out the rest of the world.

I am looking for a proper deflector

Under 60ish I can usually leave the sunroof open and the windows down as long as it is dry. Before putting on a deflector (something I wouldn't consider as I'm a stickler about the lines on my MINI) you may want to try different combinations, one of the windows down instead of both tends to work out real well, also you can try windows down (1 or 2) and just craking the sunroof or slide it back half way or so. Biggest thing for me is to be careful if I've got directions and need to worry about them flying out. Hope you find a solution that works for you, glad to hear you're loving the MINI, welcome to NAM!

Obvioulsy, I am too traditional...it screws up the roofline, defeats the purpose of the sunroof to an extent, and self adhesive...I don't think so. I bet the sound that makes when it tears off the roof is something to behold!

Moss MINI does a couple of different types. There're here:

Maybe you could get it color coded to match the roof?

+1, I almost never take my sunroof off tilt, even in the rain!

I can't leave my sunroof on tilt mode. It makes too much noise whenever I hit a bump. It makes me grind my teeth everytime I hear it!

I thought that it was too loud after 5o Mph but I don't care anymore. This is my summer car and I have the HK sound system so I just motor with the top open and the windows down. My phone is set to auto answer while I am driving so while the phone is ringing I close the windows and roof. Forget the add on crap, just think about how nice it was driving in the nice weather when it is January.
