Disable OBC average speed indicator
I've searched, but think starting a new thread might be better.
My MCS is '03, so the OBC doesn't have the Actual Speed function . . . only the Average Speed. But, obviously, it is capable of registering (and very accurately) actual speed, because that's what it does when you clear the old average speed figure by holding down the stalk button for a couple of seconds. For an instant the actual speed is displayed with precision and then the averaging function begins.
Has anyone figured out how to disable the averaging function, so that a continuous actual speed can be displayed?

Yes. From '04 on the OBC DOES have an actual speed function. I'm hoping to modify my '03 OBC to accomplish the same. As I posted above, the OBC does have the capacity to register actual speed, because that's exactly what it does the instant the average speed function is engaged. I just want to disable the continuing effort made by the OBC to give an average speed figure and allow the read out to be a continuous actual speed figure.

Sorry, it's more hassle to fake it that you think...

If you really want it, get a BC2 from a wrecking yard....

The BC2 enables 6 different functions, as opposed to 4 with the BC1. So I'm thinking that the tach display on my '03 might not synchronize properly and I'll have to change out the tach, too.
So, all of a sudden, this turns into an involved and expensive (even at junk yard prices) proposition. It was never THAT important to me and I was hoping for the easy fix. Oh well! Asi es. Thread out!!!
