Interior/Exterior front licence plate brackets
#51
I already had holes, but became quite partial to my GB plate, so I checked and managed to legally mount mine to the upper right winshied with velcro, blocks out light but not too much in the LOS and can be easily removed for track time. I've gotten extra scrutiny from officers but not a single one has mentioned it, they all just look a little harder cause its not in the first place the expect it to be. Total cost $4.

Herozup - I also installed the Aero bracket on my MCS. What I did was put masking tape on the bumper near center, above the bracket location. Measure between the dimples on the bumper to find center and mark. Mark center on the bracket. Hold the bracket centered and drill a small pilot hole up through one of the bottom holes. Install screw and do the same for the second screw. I wanted to use a plate frame, so I attached a rear boot plate bracket to the aero bracket and then the frame and plate with 4 screws as on the rear boot.

That plus my plate install is just legal so I've had at least a dozen cops spin around and hunt me down for it only for them to see I have it in an acceptable fashion.

It doesn't really block airflow to the bottom radiator, the underside is open and designed to allow air flow up and in.

I'm sure that many people contest in hopes of not having to do anything with it, gominigo option notwithstanding. i certainly tried to fight them with my Karmann Ghia, not wanting to drill the bumper... in the end, I had to anyway. Multiple tickets in 3 weeks... they had a vendetta...
My ticket doesn't actually say fix-it on it, and I've heard from folks both ways, that it isn't fixable in SF because they want the revenue, or that it remains so, but not as clearly indicated in hopes people won't try and resolve it, and just pay instead. It's VERY hard to contest in SF.
I'm putting the gominigo adapter on there, and then taking it in. One way or another, I'm having it fixed...

Front License Plate Bracket
Hi NAM members . . . . . . .
I made my own front plate bracket since I don't like the off-set look.
It did not cost alot to make; the parts came from the local hardware store and is easy to remove if you nedd to do so.
It stays in place with velcro and is backed up with two small zip ties that
are hidden behind the plate.
I checked to see if it affected the air flow and after the install I did not have
any increase in the temp.
It may be that drilling holes in the license plate also helped with getting the air
to move freely.
I have some photos in my gallery of how the "Front Plate" looks; check it out.............
If you want some details on the construction, send me a message and I will do my best to send a drawing.
Thanks . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
