Aero Kit door sill question.

For those of you with Aero Kits. Do you have the stainless steel door sills? I just noticed that mine is missing them. Is it supposed to have and the dealer forgot?

I just installed my aero kit and it does not come with the sills. You have to order them seperately. They are about $60.

Thanks for the info. No way I can shame the dealer into some freebie JCW sills now.

No, sills with the kit. Isn't it weird. It was the first thing I noticed when I picked up my car.

I take it you can't re-use the stock sills?

It's wierd they didn't mention anything about needing new sill plates with the aero kit. If you have a great MA they might be willing to get you some door sills for cheap.

eVal: I have seen the illuminated sills on MINIs with Aero kits and it shouldn't be a big deal to install, you just have to drill a hole in the bottom of the door frame for wiring which is a part that wigs most people out.

You can use the original sill plates, I did so on my '04. I pried the old ones off with a putty knife and then cleanup up the glue from the back. After that, glued them onto the new aero skirts, no problems, looked great.

If you decide to reuse the original plates you just have to be careful getting them off - easy to bend.

The problem is that MIB came with nifty sill plates that say MINI Cooper, The lighted sill plates just say MINI.

It is too bad they don't offer Lighted sill plates that say MINI Cooper!

I left my aero skirts blank. It looks nice and clean IMHO. The biggest thing for me was the skirts don't have a recessed area for the sills like the standard skirts.
