Clear protective light shield installation tips.

I will be installing these light shields over the weekend, has anyone used these from MossMini? Any tips on installation?
I see a few warnings in the instructions about fingerprints and fog under the shield after install. Any tips would be great.
Thanks!

You need hair dryer... just heat it up, then the shield will become soft. And you can contour it to the headlight.

It says something about extra material building up on the edges, do they stretch when warm?

Make sure your hands stay wet with the water/alcohol solution when handling the shields. Be patient, the shield WILL conform to the headlight. Squeegee the hell out of it. The haze between the shield and the headlight WILL go away, just don't hold your breath though.

What do you mean, just don't "hold your breath"? BTW, where did you get your DINAN airbox?

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

The haze will take a long time to go away, anywhere from a few weeks to a month or more, if it's warm where you are it might not take as long.

The MINI dealer that I used to go to is obviously also BMW, and they do Dinan there as well.
I still get parts from there, but the tech that works on my car is at a different dealer now.

Also use a lot of the wetting solution to keep from getting finger prints and take your time.
When I did mine I thought I would never get them streched out. I just kept using my hands to smooth out the plastic. It took about 30 mins to get them completely flat on the lights.
Also, as said above, don't worry about the hase when you first install, it will go away.

You can find some detailed information here http://www.autopaintguard.com/installation.html, that where I bought mine from, the kit came with an instruction video disc, that guy makes it look so easy.
I did the hood piece myself, it's a hell of work requiring a lot of patience. Although I have done it once on my another car with ease long time ago, I'm not too happy with the Mini job due to the much rounded hood. Headlight installation should be straightforward I hope.

i used a heatlamp to warm it up before applying it over the lamp. otherwise, the cover will not contour very well to the curvature of the lens.

They won't stretch alot when warm, so don't worried about out of shape.
When there is bulge show up on the shield.. just heat it up spray the solution and push it down.
Also don't worried about the haze, they will gone eventually.

Thanks for all the great tips given here. Especially the one about the haze taking time to go away. I know that would've made me go crazy.

It is like installing window, the biggest trick is to use lots of solution, it will allow for positioning and keep the finger prints out. Ensure the lens is really clean also. Use a heat gun after positioning and a small plastic squeege with a soft microfiber cloth wrapped around to get the water and air bubbles out. I did both my MINI's never had air bubbles or any issues. Take your time and do not get them to hot.
