I haven't done it myself (I prefer the black). I only remembered seeing it discussed, and entered a search. If you already have the new pieces, you should be able to see how the clips hold them together, and where to apply pressure to pry them apart.

rkw thank you for all of your help. My problem is just trying to get them apart without scratching the hell out of them. I wish I knew what tools were used.

I dechromed my interior except for the roll-over bar covers. Unfortunately, I've already purchased the black covers ($40 for all 4), so can only sell the chrome ones when the switch is made - hopefull this weekend. I'll put them up for sale when available.

Tell me how you get the old ones off without scratching or cracking them. Let me know what tools are needed.

replacing roll bar covers

I bought the chrome roll bar covers from the dealer about a week after I picked up the car. I found that if I took out the screw that holds the back seat headrest on and then opened the clips that hold the lower roll bar covers it gave me more room to work on the upper covers. You also need to open these up so the collar on the upper covers will come free. You don't have to take the lower covers completely off, just open them up. Then I used a couple small flat screwdrivers to pry apart the upper covers using the new covers as a guide as to where to pry. Prying the bottom side first and from the front seemed to work a little easier. Once you have the old ones off the new ones go on pretty easily. Any one want to buy some black roll bar covers?
