Looking for a new antenna

I'm tryin to find a new antenna, I like the kind that have a bend in them so you can tilt them back at an angle. Anyone know a good place to pick up one of these? I prefer black and under $25 if possible, but I'm open to whatever you guys can throw out there.

S2000

Go with an S2000 antenna works good and you can get em at a Honda dealer for $22 or maybe find it cheaper online probably.

I like the S2000 antenna too, not too long and not too short, and matches the matte base 05-06's. I got one on ebay for $12 plus postage.

i think the s2000 antenna, at least the one i have, is alittle too thick and bulky in size. i'm in the look out for a better soft and short antenna, which ain't easy to find.

I've never seen one....ever.......that was bent back at an angle. If you find one do let us know. In '03 I got an S2000 antenna which has worked fine, but if I were to do it all over again today I'd go Alta.

I'm pretty sure I've seen them by chance when flipping thru stores that sell other car accessories, but I don't think I've seen them on MINI specific websites.

I was contemplating bending the stock antenna and shaving off some of the rubber, as I don't use the stock antenna at all. I'll post some pics if I actually do this.

Anyone know if that empty hole will rust up? I might need to find something for that.

I did see an antenna that you could make longer/shorter by cutting a metal rod that essentially ran up inside a base and topper. Theoretically one could bend the rod. Not sure where I saw it...ya might check Moss.

You wouldn't want water or anything in the hole, but i have heard some guys plug the hole with a rubber plug or tape it over. Reception isnt bad with out an antenna because of the internal antenna that I believe runs through the roof.

Have a look at http://www.antennax.com/

They offer a 13" plastic antenna that can be bent into a gentle curve, and at $10, the price is right...

Do you have a picture of it mounted on a MINI? And how wide is the bottom of the mast? Some antennas (like the S2000) flare out too wide at the bottom for the narrower, more pointy antenna base of the convertible.

I wound up sanding the base a bit for better fit, and then used some black heat-shrink tubing to improve the shape near the base. The bottom inch or so in this picture of the AntennaX 13" is my heat-shrink.

Alta Antenna = Poor Reception

I bought the Alta antenna since I heard so many great things about it. Unfortunately, the reception is horrible. I live in a very urban area (Washington, DC Metro area), so I am a little blown away that the performance is so poor.

If I put the MINI antenna on, the reception is awesome...I can't stand the R/C car look of it though.

Also, I noticed that as soon as I drive into a parking garage, the signal dies almost immeadiately with the Alta...bummer.

I think I'll try out the S2000 antenna. Hopefully I'll see better results.

Many French Mini owners now change their stock antenna with a Peugeot one which costs € 5,00 about $ 6,00 or so. Reference is 6561N3.

Looks great and works fine.

I have no antenna...and I love it. Nothing uglier than that antenna....and the best part is that all you do is unscrew the antenna...and it's done! Plus it's free!

I didn't notice that, nice eye. I'll head over to home depot when I get a chance, shouldn't be that hard to get a hinge and to cover it with a rubber fitting.

I would like to do that....any idea on the size of the screw needed? I'm sure I have one around here....somewhere.
