I just thought that might look cool on my car and was wondering if anyone shared my opinion or had done that to their car?

seems to me it would look best on a Dark Silver or Jet Black MCS, being too contrasty on the other colors. Perhaps a set of phantom stripes would integrate it better too

While you won't be saving any real weight, as the plastic scoop is already light, I think on a silver or dark silver car, this would look pretty neat. Do you have the black, white, or body colored roof?

white roof Dark silver car. I could care less about the weight even if it weighed more I still think it would look great.

I would have to agree. Anything in moderation is ok right? just so you don't have a 10 foot tail sticking off the roof made out of cardboard with carbon fiber decals placed on it.

I think it is more classy than ricy.

indeed,

i like the exterior of my mcs the way it is, except i might add the aero package but no carbon fiber (as much as i like it) hood or hood scoop for me thank you. i did, however, install a set hyperblack 18" 5zigen (FN-01RC) this friday, though. i hope this didn't take anything from the classy-ness of my mcs? i still haven't figured out how to post pictures yet, so try this website: http://www.5zigenusa.com

If I got the MINI, I would try to get the carbon fiber hood, but get it painted to match the car. Saves weight and still looks good.

And I do like those wheels

truthfully.... how much wright is shed using the cf hood?

Before purchasing TRUE weight shedding pieces.... find out how it is produced...many times cf part makers will use firberglass, and then lay up one layer of carbon fiber, resulting in weight gain AND cause the product to be less stable and fragile. A good carbon fiber piece should ONLY be carbon Fiber... with the exception of reinforcement foam prodcut sandwiched between the layers... and all after market cf should be vacuum bagged as opposed to being laid up.

Of Course, for a small piece, like the scoop... if it's not vacuum bagged, it's not going to hurt anything... since it's a piece of zero weight significance to the performance of the S.

Paying for a new hood, without researching it, may be an expensive mistake

Good Luck!

truthfully.... I accidentally posted twice! Oh well...how much weight is lost with a CF hood... and if you're just looking for shedding weight for racing, remove your headlights and interior!

Who is making this? I might consider it. The paint shade on my Pure Silver bonnet scoop is just a hair off in certain lighting anyway. I think it would look OK on my PS MCS. Not TOO "Rice" anyway.

How about side mirrors?

I hate how everything that is aftermarket is condisered "RICE". Just because people in the import industry use it on their cars, it isn't good enough for your cars. Give me a break. Let people do what they want to their cars. I agree with the fact that you entitled to your own opinion, but don't categorize something just because you don't like it.

No one is disallowing people to make their cars different.

Everyone is the world's foremost expert on their own opinion. If you don't like my car or what I did to it frankly I don't care. This is an open forum and people can post what they like or dislike.

I like it. Adds some good flavor but doesn't distract from the rest of the car. Not everything aftermarket is rice, it's just that sometimes the parts look ridiculously extravagant (i.e. the spoilers on anti-rice.com) and they become "rice". Carbon fiber has a tendency to look extravagant if it's used too much. I think the comment is appropriate

I want one for my DS/DS MCS because my friend from China says it looks "very, very rice" to him.
I'm not too worried about the weight savings since I trimmed about 7lbs off of each of my front Rota Circuit 8's on a curb last week........I also learned that Toyo T1S's hold a mean bead without 1/3 of the rim lip.

I think this Bonnet scoop can look quite good used with logical thematic judgement.

RCristiano, I appreciate your wisdom, much respect!

Cheers,
Ryan

Being the guy who started a mini-commotion with the fist anti-ricer thead, why the heck not annoy everyone with my 2cents? Carbon fiber scoop? May look silly to some, but not rice. A carbon fiber scoop, the wide body kit, and a 6 inch tall wing? Now that's rice... To be truly rice, your modifications should be an attempt to re-badge the car to fool others, or adding parts to theoritically make the car look faster (bad stickers and plasticy light assy.s also qualify.. but once again, by themselves does not make a ricer, normally). Theirfor, a CF scoop would be no more rice then buying the chrome mirror caps.

Oh, and to be truly rice, you need a "LOOK AT ME!" attitude, but get really ticked off if someone does not like what you did to your car..

"rice" is a racially inspired term in such context. It's both derogatory and instigates a negative image

geez...offensive word?...I seem to remember the Japs bombed us at pearl harbor! Ask any veteran If "rice" offends them?...they would probably say..."yeah it does offend me...it should be fried rice"...not trying to offend you or anyone else...but people that remember....remember,know what I mean?

ARGH... Rice has nothing to do with racial orgin. To do so is a racist comment. Why? Other races other than asians eat rice. Other races other than aisans grow rice.

What rice refers to is no matter what you put on a bowl of white rice, it's still a bowl of white rice..

Or,

No matter what you put an a $8000 rusty little beater box, it still is a $8000 beater box, and not suddenly a race ready rally car...

And also, it's intended to be derogatory and negative twards the ricers... that's the point (and that's why some ricers have taken it as a badge of pride... just like that evil n word that whites can't say, but blacks can...) (and when can we start considering white-trash to be racist?)
